If you didn’t know you were able to do this, supposedly with the DTV HD DVRs, you can swap out the hard drive for a new one to increase the storage space available. In fact, you can actually get an external drive and plug it in the back and it takes over as the main hard drive for your DVR. You have to setup stuff on it again I believe, like favorites, etc., but that doesn’t take too long.
And if you need a hard drive for it, how about this one at Best Buy?
I mean, I remember when 30 gigs was big, then 100 gigs. This drive is ONE TERABYTE, which is 1,000 gigabytes for you math wizzes out there. And it’s only $250!
Not surprisingly, it’s completely sold out.
1,000 gigs for $250. Amazing. To put it into perspective, your current DVR drive is only 300 gigs. You could use the new one to store your favorite HD sports events, or concerts, etc. Or just to use and tape EVERYTHING that is on TV that week!
That is great, but I never keep that much stuff on my DVR. It will sometimes get full, but for the most part after I watch something I just delete it.
Kind of like when they came out with a DVD burner I though great I can copy everything, but only ended up coping a couple before I got tired of it.
I guess we will see. Are you going to get one and if so do you think you will use it enough to make it worth it? Every time I buy a new computer the hard drive keeps getting larger, but I don’t find my self putting a lot more stuff on it.
This is very cool. One terabyte may seem like a lot, but I love the idea of not having to worry about running out of space…..for a very long time.
Yeah, and for $250, it’s not that expensive.
Lots of space and easy to do I think.
