I don’t know if you read Entertainment Weekly ever, but we get the magazine at my house so I tend to look forward to it. Not for the articles, although some are good, but I like to read the TV reviews, see what’s on the Must List and check out what they like in movies, books, dvd’s, etc.
This week they had a review of Heroes up to this point in the season, giving it a C+ and really making me agree with everything it said.
The article opens with this lovely introduction:
“This week on Heroes: Claire (Hayden Panettiere) continues to marvel at the same powers of regeneration she’s always had! Hiro (Masi Oka) does cute things in feudal Japan! And after a journey of approximately 42 million miles from one vague part of Central America to another vague part of Central America, our new, haplessly murderous hero Maya (The Sopranos‘ Dania Ramirez) is still blubbering for her twin brother (Shalim Ortiz) and bleeding black goo from her eyes! Wait, which week is this? Every week.”
You can’t argue with that. Really, what HAS happened this year? Nothing and it’s been what, four or five episodes?
There is nothing that seems to be leading anywhere. Hiro wasn’t on this past week and I was glad. What is he doing in the past? Chasing a girl around next, from what I hear. Who cares?
Peter Petrelli is the best part of the show and we have seen just a bit about him, and no clue through these many episodes what actually happened to him. I think we’ll be getting back into his story Monday night, with the introduction of Kristen Bell, but will it be enough?
I actually miss “Save the cheerleader, save the world.” There has been zero point to this season. You’d think with the ton of characters on the show, plots could move forward at breakneck speed.
Perhaps they are all going to meet down the road, but I don’t think so. To me, this season is nothing but a bunch of separate stories, separate heroes all on their own, living life and not doing much.
I think the appeal of the first season was the fact that you knew it was heading to a huge finale and you got to see the interaction of the heroes you loved. Why did they all go their separate ways and not stick together?
I could go on…but I want to know what you think. Does the EW article hit the nail on the head?
This is a tough one because I loved Heroes last season. But this season so far has been a yawner. Too much we don’t care about, new characters that don’t make sense, and my biggest beef is they dropped us into their world 6 months later with no explanation. We’re just supposed to figure it all out.
It’s still on the DVR list, but I’m beginning to feel like after 1 great year Heroe’s may have jumped the shark. I hope I’m wrong.

I don’t think it’s jumped the shark, I just think they need to find their writing touch again. Just like Lost last year…the first six weeks were kind of “ugh” but then it got awesome again.
They just need to go back to what worked.
Yeah, but I never didn’t want to watch Lost. I’m getting close to not caring about Heroes. And I really want to love it. ugh!
