So the big season premier week is in the books. A few shows are still to come THIS week, like 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights and Pushing Daises, but the main ones got underway.
Here is my rankings of the new shows we checked out and if we decided to keep them on season pass.
- Chuck: Good show, had some funny moments and also some cool spy stuff. It’s sort of like an Alias with Seth Cohen from the The O.C. You know it’s going to be funny, but it also appears to have a decent subplot going on. – Season Pass!
- Life: An interesting plot and unique style. The main character was wrongly imprisoned for 12 years and is now out with a different outlook on life and the criminals he chases. The end of the episode showed his wall of clues to try and find out who framed him. Season Pass!
- Journeyman: A guy is traveling through time with no clue why, but keeps seeing his dead fiance from the past. Or is she dead? I want to keep watching this to see where it goes. Season Pass!
- Dirty Sexy Money: I love it cause Peter Krause is in it and Samaire Armstrong. It was just okay, nothing awesome, but we’ll watch it a few more times to see what we think. It also has that serial angle where he’s searching for the guy who killed his father. Season Pass for a bit!
- Bionic Woman: Ugh, not as good as I hoped. I don’t think they picked a good lead for this show, but I could be proved wrong. Regardless, with four new shows already, I aint watching this one. Booted!
- Big Shots: Not sure why we watched this after hearing bad things about it, I think we just wanted to laugh. This was the male version of Desperate Housewives right down to the cheesy music. Booted!
The jury is still out on Reaper as I haven’t gotten a chance to watch it yet. It also should be noted I was highly disappointed with CSI’s premier and even thought of canceling it, but I’m a sucker for that one.
Without a Trace was boring just like it became last year and its season pass was canceled.
The Office rocked as usually, even if the hour long version seemed a bit LONG. So many great lines in it, and the cold opening with Michael hitting Meredith leaps up to the top 5 cold openings in Office history.
What of the new ones? Which ones will you keep watching or toss out? What did you check out?

We liked Chuck best of the new shows, but also liked Journeyman. Bionic…zzzzzz….Woman -OUT, Big Shots -OUT, K-Ville-OUT. I think we’ll try Pushing Daisies and Life this week and then we’ll see.
For returning show, the Office ROCKED! CSI was disappointing. Criminal Minds was also good and the Unit looks like it may stick around a while longer. Also, still funny was My name is Earl.
So far this season is about as expected, a couple of keepers and quite a few duds.
So far we liked Chuck the best of the new ones too. We’re also going to give Private Practice a few more episodes to decide, as I am with Gossip Girl too. We’re going to try Pushing Daisies this week. As for the returning shows, Grey’s was good, The Office premiere was great, and Ugly Betty was spectacular, the best episode yet. Getting ready to watch Heroes right now:)
Journeyman remained strong through its 2nd week showing. Heroes is tanking (the best story line Hiro, is now the worst storyline). Peter has to rediscover everything about him?!?!?! Didnt he take a season to do that already?
Bionic Woman previews look uninteresting this week (though, I’ll give it a try) I dunno what it is with that show, maybe its who is cast for the role (she has a awfully big head it seems)
I also really liked Life (after the big headed woman show).
Smallville was good, but what’s the point of Supergirl…. its loooking to be a jump the shark marker…..
Haven’t finished Journeyman yet, but I liked the first 20 minutes.
I like Heroes a bit more, but I agree, it’s a bit slow right now…too many characters.
I’ll likely tape Bionic again as well, just for one more chance. Agree on the head
ok its official…
Bionic Woman is officially worse than MO’s review of the Queen being better than Bourne Identity and Transformers. I mean last nights show had more holes in it than Dick Cheneys hunting partner. Its a definite strike two so far, but yeah I’ll be back next week for the final at bat with the show…
On the other hand, Life is a very good show. Recommended for all you DVR people out there.
And just cause you asked Mr Mikey, I will give Friday night lights a try. I’ll let you know what I think….
Yeah, I skipped episode 2 of Bionic Woman, mainly because it was going to cause me to miss some of the Dbacks game and I determined at that moment is wasn’t worth it.
Life is great, episode two was pretty good.
Hope you like FNL…
