But for how long? And I’m not talking about the WGA strike.
Monday’s episode was fantastic…exactly what we’ve been waiting for all season long. And next week’s looks highly promising as they intend to show us exactly what happened after the explosion last season.
Still…we’ve waited so many episodes for something good to happen that it begs the questioning of whether or not we’ll go back to long, drawn-out stories.
Regardless, let’s revel in the story and excitement from last night. Spoilers ahead, so don’t read if you haven’t seen it yet.
So many things happened that it’s hard to track it all. Okay, let’s spell it all out:
- Hiro steals Kensei’s woman, causing him to pledge revenge.
- Hiro thinks he killed him, but we all knew he would be back
- Hiro disappears, thus not allowing Kensei his revenge…
- Someone named Adam puts together this first group of people…the “adults”, who are being killed by Parkman’s dad.
- Parkman’s dad is the tool of Adam
- Adam is Kensei
Yummmmmy!
I am just stoked that Adam is Kensei who was Sark on Alias, one of the baddest dudes to be on that show. He’s a solid, very solid evil guy and I like his role here. I thought I saw that coming earlier this season…I know I figured since he could live forever, being immortal almost, that he would come back into play.
The boredom of the last few episodes totally made that thought disappear from my mind.
Now, that being said…it’s hard to tell what is going on and who actually is evil.
Adam wants Peter Petrelli’s help…but for what? For evil? His goal is to take down the The Company apparently, since he’s killing everyone off, so does he need Peter to finish the job? Did he see the fall of Parkman’s dad coming?
Is The Company good in some way?
Obviously Adam’s entire goal must be to ruin Hiro…so what history is he changing that he needs Peter’s help with? A secondary goal to Hiro? One history is already set that we see – the virus spreads, killing everyone. Does Adam hope to contain it and thus be a hero?
It’s awesome to think Adam is the top bad guy in this show. Granted, Sylar is spectacularly evil but he just took a back seat to Adam Kensei. Adam has obviously has lived for a long time, wandering the world, waiting for the time Hiro returned.
Let’s talk about the paintings that the Horned-Rimmed Glasses guy burned:
- Hiro fighting Kensei – happened by the end of the episode
- Noah (glasses) shot through the eye, with Claire in the background kissing someone
- Nicki pounding a door down – happened now
- Someone holding a vial – maybe the virus? Was it Suresh already or something in the future?
- Peter next to a radioactive logo, with Adam? in the background.
- Suresh holding a smoking gun
It’s hard to imagine that Noah will be killed, but he has turned careless and evil. It would be a great twist in the show to actually have Suresh follow through and kill him as predicted in the paintings.
The Parkman twist was good, with his father being trapped in his own nightmare. Although I have to chuckle a bit to think his son was suddenly more powerful than him, without the years of practicing the new powers.
What did you think? What did I miss? Any theories?
Wish I could be as excited as you are for Heroes, but for 45 mins it was the same old crap we’ve seen all year. Finally, in the last 15 mins we saw some glimpses of how great this show can be. Of course we’re something like 7 or 8 episodes in, so they’ve wasted a third of the season just to get here.
Now that we’re getting somewhere it had better stay this way. We were about ready to pull the plug on this show until that last 15 mins, so cmon Heroes keep steppin’ up!
I think there were 8 paintings … at least I saw a few numbered 2/8, etc.
Adam doenst want Peters help….meaning its not an after the fact preview you saw. Next week is a prologue of what happened between season 1 & 2. So we find out how Peter meets Elle and adam (he already knows Adam we as viewers dont know that yet). It looked as if they were both in jail and perhaps Peter heled Adam escape (from whatever their predicament was), and thats the help Adam wanted maybe.
Just my point of view
I went back to look at them all, and that’s all I saw…maybe I need to look again.
Or maybe one wasn’t there….
Oh, I thought the interaction between everyone early on was good…better than before. I mean, Parkman, Suresh, Peter’s brother, Nicki…all together…much better than the separate stories.
