Thanksgiving is still officially six days from now, however, as I leave on a plane tonight with my wife to visit family in eastern Texas at the wonderful Hale House Inn for the next week, my Thanksgiving has already begun.
Getting away from work, seeing family and my little nephew Jackson is just what I need right now. I know you are worried that me being gone means no more blogging for a week, but I think a few of you know me better than that. I blogged on my anniversary vacation earlier this year! Of course I will still be blogging, because this is so much fun I could never see it as actual work.
Yadda yadda, so what is the Friday question? Well, screw TV, movies, the WGA Strike and all that. It’s Thanksgiving man! So the question is…
“What is your favorite food to eat on Thanksgiving Day?”
I can tell you right now without even thinking about it that there is one thing I absolutely love on Thanksgiving: Mashed potatoes and gravy. Lots of gravy and potatoes that aren’t entirely smooth, that maybe even have some lumps thrown in there.
Now, to make it perfect, I’d throw some turkey on that plate and smother that in gravy too. Gravy is really the key.
There are a ton of great things to eat that day, including stuffing, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie…but man do I love the mashed potatoes.
As a bonus question…what traditions do you have for Thanksgiving? Do you watch football? Do you play in a morning flag football game? Do you take a nap? Do you see family? Do you cook dinner or eat out?
Sweet Potatoes / Yams!!!
Sweet Potatoes also
Mashed Potatoes, creamy gravy… and rolls! I like me some starch on T-day.
It’s a little of everything, but you are right; Gravy is the key to it all. It goes on Turkey, mashed potatoes, and esp stuffing, plus you can dip your roll in it too…yum! Sweet potatoes are good too.
As for traditions; playing flag football in the morning is a good one, though for the last couple of years my football organizer has been out of town. I think this year he’s in Texas.
Oh, well, the bigger tradition is watching my beloved Cowboys! Since they always play on Thanksgiving, it just makes the day that much more special.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone and Go Cowboys!
Definitely stuffing, with gravy of course!
Sweet Potatoes! Stuffing come in second.
I’m so shocked that more of you don’t look forward to the turkey…or pumpkin pie…
it’s all about potatoes and gravy…interesting.
Scott, yer so weird
I with you Scott, I despise pumpkin pie. But I like pumpkin cake and bread, go figure. I LOVE stuffing. Especially stuffing on a turkey sandwich with a little bit of crapnut relish (Adrian named my cranberry apply walnut relish this) the next day! YUM! We will be watching the ASU/USC game and cheering on our Devils. Probably play some board games and be silly with my family too. Have a great vacation Mike and Jina!
Pumpkin Pie? YUCK!
