A few weeks ago I alerted you all to the glorious news that Cris Carter would start filming X-Files 2 in December and the movie would be released on July 25th, 2008.
Well, as the production and casting continues, more news will be coming out and one of the juiciest tidbits yet has fallen from the sky:
Lance Henriksen, the star of Millennium, the quickly canceled X-Files spin-off, could reprise his role as Frank Black in this new X-Files sequel. Most of you will of course remember Henriksen for playing the android in Aliens with Sigourney Weaver.
Aint it Cool News has a reported rumor saying that Henriksen was contacted to be in the next X-Files film, but wasn’t at liberty to speak anymore about it, but would let us decide what we think.
Pretty evident that he could really be a part of this project. Now, I never got too much into Millennium, but I did watch a few episodes. It was dark and mysterious, with Black possessing a gift to see through the eyes of the killer. You can read all about what it was about on Wikipedia if you want, it really helped me get a refresher on the main idea of the series.
This rumor seems to fit with the idea that the plot isn’t related at all to the main mythology of the X-Files, but will instead be what we used to call the “monster” episodes. Adding Henriksen to the plot really makes it interesting and dark.
The series Millennium was described as “Seven in Seattle” and that bodes well for a seriously dark X-Files sequel.
I can’t wait.
[...] The idea I posted that Frank Black would somehow join Mulder and Scully in some ghoulish plot was intriguing. Sadly, that rumor must be recanted [...]
Huge Millennium fan – absolutely loved that show and hated it when it was canceled. This is cool that he might be popping up in this movie – I always loved his character.
Sorry Ape, this post was from a long time ago…no Henricksen
