There was a book I read awhile ago called “Bringing Down the House” by Ben Mezrich, which told the story of six M.I.T. students who took Las Vegas for millions of dollars by playing blackjack.
It was a fascinating book and definitely a page-turner. These students would strap cash to their bodies in order to make it through security and uses false names in order to evade casino security in Vegas.
But despite the odds, they figured it out and made millions. What happened? How did they do it? You need to read the book to find out, or you could see the movie that is coming out in March of 2008 called “21″.
The film, just like the book, will be based on actual events that took place by these six genius students and their professor, who spent the weekends NOT doing homework, but traveling to and from Vegas and becoming rich in the process.
With a cast that includes Jim Sturgess, Kevin Spacey, Laurence Fishburne and Kate Bosworth, it is a movie I’m really looking forward to. The idea that these guys figured it out, knew how to beat the house at their own game, was amazing. Granted, it wasn’t exactly legit, and you need more than one person, but it’s inspiring nonetheless.
The book was a nail-biter at times, so one can only think of what the movie will be like.
On a little side note, I happen to know that one of my readers allegedly is friends one of the guys who were involved in this from M.I.T., so I am curious to see if he has anything to share.
Check out the official movie poster below.

I look forward to watching the movie to see if it can measure up to the book.
As for being friends with one of the players, I may or may not be associated with someone that goes by the alias of Andrew Tay.
Of course to figure out who that is, you will need to read the book. However, I can assure you that it will be worth it as you will not be able to put it down!
Thanks Kory, I knew you’d step up!
I’m with Kory, I wonder if it can be even close to the book, which was fantastic.
The movie looks great. I’ll probably read the book first, since I like knowing how it all ends.
