*Spoilers*
Following instructions is the most obvious thing you have to know in The Amazing Race, yet it’s funny when some teams just completely forget about that part. Now I know that in the heat of the moment you sometimes skip something important in a clue or whatever, but most of this stuff is obvious.
Don’t mind me, I’m just ticked off that I lost another one of my teams, the one I thought would win it all.
When you book plane tickets, you always have to double-check that they are economy class. Always, always, always.
But Azaria and Hendekea didn’t, and once they got to the gate to board the plane, they discovered they made a fatal error. It wasn’t clear who’s fault it was, the travel agent or theirs, but regardless, when they went back to change tickets, there was no room on the plane.
Suckfest.
They landed in Croatia last and made up no time on the kid and his grandpa. I was surprised that they couldn’t make up any ground when they saw them in the boat below, but I guess it took awhile to get on that little zip line to the water.
Oh well, they show up in last place and alas, this wasn’t a non-elimination round. Bye-bye Azaria and Hendekea. I will miss the way Az suddenly turns into a condescending prick to his sister at the drop of a hat.
There was more drama in this leg than there ever should have been. Nate and Jennifer are still on the see-saw of life, hating and loving each other on a whim.
Jennifer said after the race that their relationship was up in the air, and I almost have to agree. The only time they seem to fight is when things get tough, and if you are going to berate each other during a freaking race, what will do you in real life when tragedy strikes?
Their mishaps and emotional meltdowns led to the other big screw-up: Not taking a taxi to the pit stop when the clue said to take a taxi.
But I really don’t get what came next. Phil tells them that yeah, you are team #2 and all, but you have to go back and take a taxi from the spot you took the trip from the local.
Why? What happened to the 30-minute penalty? Do they just pick random penalties based on who it is or what part of the leg you are on?
I mean, what if someone had taken a ride from a non-public transport when they landed in Croatia. Would Phil send them back to the airport to re-do all the challenges?
Seems funny to me, I felt the 30-minute penalty would have been the correct punishment there.
Still loving the Goth couple too. Vyxsin at one moment in the airport say about the other teams “they are sheep” for following each other, yet when they race to the clue box after TK and Rachel, she says “just follow them!”
And now we know where we’ll see Kynt after the show ends. Likely starring alongside Hiro on NBC, playing the one and only “Goth Superhero” as he was dubbed by Vyxsin.
So the good news is that most of us has Azaria and Hendekea, but the bad news is that Kat didn’t and now is the only one with two teams left.
Mike: Azaria/Hendekea, Rachel/TK, Lorena/Jason
Jina: Azaria/Hendekea, Rachel/TK, Marianna/Julia
Tracy: Ari/Staella, Rachel/TK, Jennifer/Nathan
Scott: Kynt/Vyxsin, Nicholas/Donald
Nicky: Jennifer/Nathan, Azaria/Hendekea
Kat: Nathan/Jenny, Kynt/Vyxsin
Wow! The Dad and Daughter had a good leg and came in first!?! The repel and climb challenge looked more difficult than the rowing, but they didn’t show those teams with any problems.
The previews said the next episode is in 2 weeks – suck!
It looks like Gramps stuggles with a ‘fast forward’. Do you think he’ll get through it and they’ll come in first?
I guess the hernia didn’t affect Ronald carrying those bricks too much huh?
Two weeks sucks, and I didn’t notice that it was a fast-forward, but that makes sense. I’ll bet it’s an eating challenge or something that he can’t do.
We missed most of this one due to DVR issues. Thanks for filling in some of the blanks.
On a side note; my picks were Kynt and Vyksin & Granpa and Grandson, so I’m still looking good.
Scott’s last blog post..A year off for good behavior
Sorry Scott, I guess I did miss that somehow
Also, your DVR issue was probably a DTV issue, I should have called to tell you guys. I think the description for the show in the guide was from the previous week, so our DVR’s weren’t set to record it…
Same problem here with our DVR. Happen to catch it twenty minutes in. Thanks for getting us hooked on the show.
As long as everyone saw the breakdown that was Nate and Jen – “I hate you I hate you, I’m never going to be with you ever again.” – then you saw what you needed to see!
I can’t believe some of the teams still in it!
