Paramount and J.J. Abrams are running a contest where they have posted five minutes of “Cloverfield” online for viewing. The contest involves placing the footage via a widget on your website (MySpace page, Facebook profile, etc.) and showing the footage. The top 20 people whose widget is grabbed the most (that kinda sounds dirty) will win a prize.
Tell ‘em what they’re playing for Bob!
1st Prize is your very own hometown screening of the film before its US release in January! Three 2nd Prize winners will receive one Panasonic HDC-SD1 AVCHD 3CCD High Definition SD/SDHC Camcorder, four 3rd Prize winners will receive one Panasonic DMC TZ1 digital camera, and twelve 4th Prize winners will receive a Cloverfield prize pack.
So check out the footage, which is really cool, then grab the widget and spread the love. You never know, you might just win a really cool prize.
“Cloverfield” is set to hit theaters on January 18, 2008.
Now that’s the way to do viral marketing.

Wow, it’s unbeleviable how advanced are special effects these days. I understand how they can make them with special cameras in studios but with a hand held camera, I have no idea.
Fantastic!
