Every year I swear I'm not going to watch the show and then I get sucked right back in again. It's like a car crash - you just can't look away. <em>D.L. However, I think American Karaoke...err...Idol is a much better show than those other singing competitions that you mentioned. Look at the success and $$$ that some of those artists are now bringing in. America likes watching goofy people seeking their 15 min of fame, and are cancelling shows like journeyman. Granted eventual finalists may be talented, but I dont need battle of the choirs, american idol, americas got talent, dancing with the stars to dominate and replace creative writing and tv shows. Its a culture where we like to see others fail and perform worse than we do so we can all justify our existence. Is American Idol over yet?!?!?!….. America likes watching goofy people seeking their 15 min of fame, and are cancelling shows like journeyman. After that it's gets too predictable. I'm convinced they manipulate the voting, which is why we had to endure Sanjia far too long last year.
