gee, you really have some hatefulness for the pats, huh?! i don’t mind them. i mean, they don’t seem to brag a bunch or be all over commercials like some other teams and players that kinda annoy me. overall, i don’t really care. as long as the vikings win their game and the redskins lose, i’ll be happy!

    You mean like Favre? :)

    I love him :)

I know there are a lot of Patriots haters out there, but I have to say that I’m in favor of them going perfect. This is a feat that we won’t see too often in sports history and I am happy to have a chance to see it unfold.

Also, I really don’t get why so many people hate them because they win. I wish my home teams had this kind of success. And nobody even bring up the cheating scandal. Besides the fact the Patriots were caught before halftime (before viewing those tapes), it would be completely naive to think that all NFL teams aren’t cheating. The league has laughable drug testing. Heck, they don’t even test for HGH. If a highly paid professional feels he can get away with something that will give him a competitive edge, they will do it.

Plus, any team that brings Randy Moss in AND transforms him into a team player has to be doing something right.

Also, I’m a Peyton Manning fan but even I am a little put off by ALL the commercials he’s on. To me they show a little more “I’m the best” arrogance than any Patriots player has.

Anyways, 19-0 so those Old Dolphin players can be quiet :)

How does being in commercials relate to “I’m the best?” Maybe being a great actor I can see, but I don’t think it means he thinks he’s all that. I mean, Tiger Woods is all over the place, and he’s the best, but it doesn’t mean that’s what he’s saying.

And people hate the Patriots because they are smug, they’ve run up the score on tons of teams when they could have just sat back. Going for it on 4th and 3 when you are up 45 points?

And as far as the cheating thing, maybe teams cheat, but they were caught and that counts for something. Drug testing is an entirely different thing. If they don’t test for HGH, and people use it, it’s not really against the rules, this not cheating :)

Anyways, regardless, I just don’t like them, never have. Probably has more to do with their head coach than anything else.

Like I said, I’m a Peyton Manning fan. But I’ve heard enough people comment on how sick and tired they are of his commercials and using them to elevate his status. I’m not saying it’s fair and accurate but that it’s there. And I have heard similar comments about Tiger, mainly from other golf fans.

I agree that most of the smugness comes from the coach. He’s the one to blame for most of those things. But whatever, it doesn’t take away from the team’s talent.

Also, HGH is a banned substance, it’s just not tested. So it still is against the rules :)

Again I’m not saying that I have proof of any HGH use, but I’m no dummy either :)

Mike – I’m with you. Can’t stand them and hope they lose. But, if they do win tonight, how great would it be if they get beat in the playoffs?

There are numerous reasons people hate the Patriots and it starts with their head coach. He is a great football mind but pretty much classless and arrogant. I could give specifics, but I think everyone knows what I am talking about.

Rodney Harrison is a cheater and the dirtiest player in the game.

Mike Vrabel is a punk – just check out the highlight from the Panthers game when he holds a football out for a fan and then takes it away before the fan can grab it.

If the Patriots were to start losing, Randy Moss would revert to his old self. I am so sick of hearing about how he is a reformed team player. Why wouldn’t he be? He is on the verge of breaking a record for touchdown receptions and on the best team in football.

Tom Brady? Great quarterback, but a punk as well. I don’t remember Montana, Elway, Marino or Favre ever talking as much as he does during a game or crying about how a great team doesn’t get any respect (2 or 3 years ago I think). I do love his Stetson commercials though :-)

I could go on and on. They are a great team. The greatest team ever? No – isn’t the goal the Lombardi? If they had some class and were less arrogant (they are lucky no one has taken a good shot at Brady or Moss while they were running up the score), more people would be rooting for them. But as it stands, more than 50% of football fans are rooting against them (ESPN ran a poll).

    Go Giants!

Just my two (or 25) cents. :-)

    Go PATS!!!

Don’t be bitter because the Cardinals play more like cardinals than a real football team…

I hope the Pats put up 50 on the Giants today – it’s gonna be a good game and I am pretty much all set up to watch it.

Wow, what a shock that we disagree on this too. First Blu-Ray, then Sirius…now the Pats.

At least we’ll always have Lord of the Rings and tamales!

  11. The Trousered Ape

Yes – LOTR and tamales has salvaged our friendship – lol

Congrats to the Pats on the win. Great accomplishment, but do they get a trophy for going 16-0 in the regular season? Rodney Harrison and Vince Wilfork proved my point last night. An eye poke? Are you kidding me??!?!

That was a fantastic game, almost makes whatever happens today kind of boring :)

Good job by the Giants coming out with guns blazing and giving us football fans a great game. They could have saved themselves for the playoffs, but they knew what this meant.

The Patriots still have to win the Super Bowl for their undefeated season to match the ’72 Dolphins, but going 16-0 is pretty amazing.

  15. The Trousered Ape

Couldn’t agree more about comparing them to the ’72 fins. For the Pats to legitimize their record they do need to finish out with a championship or else it will diminish what they did in the regular season.
