While many were jumping all over the fact that NBC failed to renew Journeyman last week, there is still a grassroots effort going on at the two big “save Journeyman” websites out there. According to a TV Guide web poll, 93% of their readers think NBC should reconsider canceling the show.
SaveJourneyman.net reports that the demise of Journeyman is “exaggerated” and that without an official word from NBC, there is still a thread of hope that the fans can save it.
The main idea to save the show is by sending boxes of Rice-A-Roni to the network headquarters at the GE building in New York, attention Jeff Zucker, president and CEO of NBC. It worked for Jericho last year when a buttload of peanuts sent in by fans gave them seven more episodes this season.
SaveJourneyman.FunUrl.Com is pooling together money for bulk shipments and right now he’s gotten over $550 and shipped around 90 boxes of the rice product.
The website linked to the above FunURL site also has email addresses of network executives and also some responses some readers have gotten back.
Like I’ve said before on this blog, I don’t think NBC wants to cancel the show, I just think the network affiliates are crying for better ratings leading into their newscasts.
We’ll see how it goes…for myself, I’ll be dropping $10 to help send some yummy rice to Jeff.

While you are at the store, could you pick up some Rice-A-Roni for dinner? I’m feeling a little hungry now for the San Francisco treat.
It’s terrible to say, but I didn’t watch this show on purpose because I knew it would be canceled. For whatever reason, sci-fi is a hard sell for network television, even cable. Look at BSG–fantastic show, but the general public shy away because it’s sci-fi.

Good call Adam, you are probably right. Firefly was the same thing…great, GREAT show, but the people just don’t come to watch sci-fi as much.
