Well, I’m a little behind since this was actually announced the other day, but don’t let that fool you into thinking I’m not excited about the new season of “Survivor: Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites” that’s coming up. It looks like it could be pretty good.
This season there will be 20 castaways competing for the million bucks. As you probably know by now there’s a pretty big twist to the game. I’ll let the producers tell you…
In a “Survivor” first, 10 ultra-fans of the series will take on 10 former castaways to compete as Fans vs. Favorites. The two tribes will be marooned amid the Rock Islands of Palau, Micronesia. The skills of the former castaways will be put to the test while the tribe of first-time competitors will see if their enthusiasm and passion for the game is enough to distinguish them as worthy competitors. The Favorites have an advantage because they’ve played the game before, but that could also be their biggest disadvantage…the tribe of Fans know how the Favorites have played the game. Although the game play of the Fans is unknown and could prove to be their advantage, the Fans’ lack of experience could be their worst enemy and potential downfall. Who will prevail?

Castaways competing in “Survivor: Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites” (in alphabetical order for each tribe) are:

I’m not altogether sure some of the “favorites” really fit into that category since they weren’t especially liked, but I guess people (fans) do know most of them. There’s some good ones who didn’t make it, but I guess that’s the way it goes sometimes.
“Survivor: Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites,” the 16th installment of the Emmy Award-winning series, premieres Thursday, Feb. 7 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
I read this in EW this weekend and I have to say, the Favorites kind of suck. I don’t know any of them.
Where is Rob C., the Survivor nut?

Ugh, to say I’m not excited about this new season would be an understatement. Will Johnny Fairplay’s 15 minutes never end? At least there’s no Rob & Amber.
Survivor is approaching the shark…and fast. If they don’t make some changes, this show may be about done. At least in our house.

Mike – They didn’t bring back anyone before the last Survivor All Stars edition which Rob was. I know all of them, of course, since I watch it like a nut, but I’m not saying they’re the best choices that could have been made.
Scott – I agree that Johnny Fairplay seems a bit overdone. I’m not sure why he was chosen other than pure controversy. Out of curiosity, though, what do you enjoy about Survivor normally – watching people or watching strategy? Why do you feel you won’t like this one?
I mean, I know Johnny Fairplay, but still…ugh.
