True Mike... what you said is absolutely right... there seems to be a lot of inertia on the both sides... Dont know what producers and production houses are doing, albeit they are losing millions...

Many films like Shantaram and serials like Prison Break has come to a standstill...(PB came to a standstill sometime back, dont know whats the status now)

<em>Soham's last blog post..</em><a href='http://soulwitness.wordpress.com/2008/01/07/10-things-to-do-before-i-hit-30/' rel="nofollow">10 things to do before I hit 30!</a>

I really am on the side of the writers, but I also think it's ridiculous that no one is sitting down busting out the details to get the strike over.

I mean, don't you think BOTH SIDES would be all about sitting down and hashing this out?

And if it lasts much longer, the government or someone should interfere because if this continues, people are just going to lose more and more jobs...

Or maybe the studio's should pay the writers instead of stealing their work, making revenue off of it, and not giving them a dime for their efforts. The studios are the ones making money for just showing up without contributing to the artistic endeavor. If it weren't for the writers and actors the suits wouldn't have jobs to begin with. And how do they re-pay their meal tickets? By stealing their work and their money. Classy...

WHo would've watched this crap anyway? Seriously, with the 20-30 major award that are given out every year, vitually every one gets a 'best in' something or other.

And how boring could the shows themselves be? Bad teleprompting and drinking by the hosts who generally aren't funny anyway, always contribute to my changing the channel the second I recognize what it is anyway.

The writers are unbelievably selfish. To put themselves and their contrary agenda over an entire industry is beyond greedy and short sighted. All of the people who worked hard this past year deserve to be celebrated and now in addition to many people who work in the industry have not only lost their jobs and homes because of the strong arm tactics of the WGA, but now their opportunity to be rewarded for a job well done is being stolen. And where is the voice of reason to bring the two sides together to not undermine one of the last remaining economic exports of this country. Not only have we farmed out everything from childrens toys to technology help overseas but now the truly American industry of film and television which is unmatched anywhere else in the world is essentially being shutdown by the WGA. Well I guess if the writers don't get their precious 3% they are willing to take the industry down with them for as long as they can. This is a clear example of why unions have officially become an arcaic and disfunctional drain on the economy. In the industrial revolution when people were working for 20 hours, in poor conditions for 50 cents there was a need for some arbitration, but in a free market economy these union bullies just bleed the system dry with the union bosses making money on the basis of a "group think" mentality which does nothing but weaken the working relations of the industry they suppose to support.

Raise your hand if you care that the Globes are canceled.

Leave it to Hollywood to implode on itself.

Someone wake me when the madness is over..until then I'll be strapped the couch watching American Gladiators. ;-)

Good!

For awhile there I was thinking we would end up with a Kimmel/Leno type of fiasco - you know, the Golden Globes inviting the Oscars to their show and vice versa...
