Yesterday, on his way to setting a new monthly record for comments, The Trousered Ape posted one that meant a lot more to this site than he probably realized.
It was comment #2000 and was just a big milestone here at A Mike Life that I wanted to recognize.
Once thing that I find important anywhere I go on the web is community. I helped create Arizona Sports Fans Network, which is a huge online community now and I can’t imagine running any kind of site without interaction from those who read it and use it.
This past month has seen even more growth and I have absolutely been loving all the talk and chatter going on. The cool thing is that while I’m having fun, I totally believe you all are too.
So what did The Trousered Ape post? Well, he was quoting BillieO and came back with a nice little quip:
“Television is a wasteland….with only a few bright spots here and there….”
You may want to adjust your contrast or get a new TV. Sounds like a technical issue.
Well done as usual. That comment is now a part of history.
On the flip side, we also hit another huge milestone early this morning: 4,000 spam comments, or spamments?
I would suggest you guys try to double your efforts so the race can draw even someday, but I really don’t think anyone realizes just how powerful the spammentors are. Sometimes I can get 15 in a matter of 15 minutes.
While I could be sick about all the spam, it also means that the site is known somehow and the more I get, the bigger the site probably is becoming.
So once again, thanks to you all for helping build this little community here and let’s get to 5,000 soon!
So does Ape when a new car or maybe even a Piano? =)
I think I may make it my personal mission to get AML to 5000 by the end of the week. Hold on to your butts!
5k by the end of the week – tall order, but I will do what I can!
Thanks Mike for having this blog – it has been fun, even if I have been hi-jacking it for my own personal stomping ground.
Damn dude, 88 comments? It’s not even the 15th yet. You really want to hold onto this record don’t you?
And who said 5k by the end of the week? Maybe the end of the month instead?
You did…errr…Jina said 5000 by the end of the week was the goal.
Give that Ape a banana…or a new pair of pants…
Nice one Ape, lol
Congrats Mike,
On the Spamments, some blogs seem to attract them more than others. On OpTempo I’ve only had about 400 but I’ve had right at 8000 on my VB.NET blog. I suppose this is because it has PR and OpTempo doesn’t yet.
Frank, what is the address for that blog? http://www.vb.net? I went there, but it’s in another language, with an English link…I didn’t see a blog right off.
It’s http://vbnotebookfor.net. The last entry was on November 6th but, believe it or not, it gets more traffic daily than OpTempo unless I have a big stumble spike.
Ah – a fellow VB developer…and here I thought I was all alone in the world.
Youre not alone… the force will be with you…. always….
I wish the force would write some code for me – I’m tired.
Well for SOE it did, it wrote the NGE for SWG all PDQ, hows that for your acronym Thursday…?
