The most interesting aspect of the nominations was the clear separation of genres within each category. In the Original Screenplay category, four of the five nominees are comedies or dramedies. In the Adapted Screenplay category, however, all five nominees are very much in the dramatic genre and are all based on successful books.
The Documentary Screenplay category is full of the usual murder and mayhem type documentaries with some political bashing and the obligatory Michael Moore movie thrown in for good luck.
The Writers Guild Awards are set for Feb. 9 at simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York.
Ya know….I really don’t care about them honoring each other right now.
I understand what the strike was about. And I agree they should get a share of the internet sales. But this strike was crap. All of their major complaints could have been handled during standard contract negotiation’s, which are held at the beginning of every project or season.
So, I hope the networks that had their programming held hostage, decide not to air their awards ceremony. IMHO.

I heard No End in Sight was actually pretty awesome, but I’m surprised The King of Kong isn’t on there, that was a documentary that got a lot of praise in 2007.

I think it would be hilarious if all the networks and media outlets refused to broadcast or report on the WGA awards ceremony. You wanna play, writers? Let’s play!
