I love Fridays, especially if you can get off work early. Sadly, my bosses scheduled a meeting at 1:30pm today, which is completely insane, but I think I feel that way mostly cause I’ve already put in around 46 hours this week and was hoping for a Noon-ish quittin’ time.
Anyways, we have a Friday question to talk about, so let’s do that instead of my crying about my job.
There is a lot of stuff coming up this year in the world of television and movies, and maybe some other things I don’t know about.
You’ve got Cloverfield hitting theaters next Friday, you have the The Dark Knight this summer, there’s Star Trek XI, you have Lost: Season 4 in 20 days and Battlestar Galactica: The Final Season in a few months.
There is a lot of good stuff coming out, and maybe even some books or a new album from your favorite band releasing soon. I know there is another Odd Thomas sequel by Dean Koontz out this summer.
There is also X-Files 2.
So the question is:
What pop culture event are you looking forward to the most in 2008?
For me…it’s pretty tough. I really want to go with Lost, because the upcoming season could be awesome
But I’m going with Battlestar Galactica Season 4, only because it’s the last one ever and it’s going to conclude the story better than probably any show I’ve gotten into before. The X-Files never ended correctly, Firefly was canceled, etc.
It seems a lot of these serialized, mythology type shows just never end right, so this will be fun to see.
What about you guys? Anything I’m missing?
Right now I think it is LOST Season 3.5 (I am refusing to call it Season 4 since they are cutting it short). It is such an engaging show and I am looking forward to its partial return.
You know – they could make it a full 16 episodes if they wanted. ABC could just cut each of the current 8 episodes in half and we could end up with 16, 30-minute episodes instead.
Ape, don’t put thoughts in their heads.
I am looking forward to the resolution of the Writers’ Strike. I completely support what they are doing, but once we get back into the full swing of quality scripted TV, I will be a happy couch potato!
Ah – I know one pop-culture event I am looking forward to and it starts next Tuesday night. The return of a new season of American Idol – woot!!!
Mike, I really want to say Lost too, but ultimately it has to be The Dark Knight for me. That flick can’t get here fast enough!

Jina’s a smart one, Mike. I too am looking forward to a favorable end to the writers’ strike that gets them a Fair Deal on new media and hopefully jurisdiction over reality and animation writers, finally.
As for movies/TV, I’m most looking forward to BSG, though with only 10 episodes in the can, I expect it’s going to get dragged out over two years. There’s just too much lead time on one of those episodes to finish up this year without stories broken and scripts written.
On the big screen, I’m excited about The Dark Knight, and to a lesser extent Iron Man.

End of the Writer’s Strike, nice one.
Yeah Ape, American Idol is going to be fun, can’t wait…and The Dark Knight Steven…yeah, pretty awesome I think.
I have to agree with R.A… for movie events it will be IronMan and the Dark Knight (imgaine me looking forward to hero flicks…)
For TV, I’m looking forward to new versions of seasme street and Smallville, and of course 24 baby!!!
Sesame Street???
Sesame Street – lol
Although 24 Baby sounds like an interesting twist on 24…
Wait, Jasons lastest blog reminded me of one more I wanna add.. INDY BABY! (no relation to the 24 baby)
Yeah, I saw his blog too and that was the other big movie I left off my examples list…
Yeah, come on guys! You can’t forget Indy!
Nothing else matters.
Except for Star Trek, of course…
And maybe some of those other things that’s already been mentioned. BSG, for sure. And Lost. And The Dark Knight. Get Smart? Maybe, I loved the TV show.

The Cap’n is certianly locking phasers on Star trek, though did I as a fan really want a prequel or some stupid re-envision of Star trek overall or a star fleet academy movie..HECK NO!!! But nobody in hollywood listens to me, so I’ll see it anyways.
Ohhh Jason brings up another good one!!! I forgot about get smart too, the trailer looks really good on this, and I like the Rock too, should be a good Stevie C movie…
Ah yes…Get Smart – hilarious TV show and with Steve Carell playing Max it should be just as funny.
Yeah, Steve Carell is the perfect casting choice for that
Warner Bros. thankfully is going to have a KILLER year at the box office:
Dark Knight
Get Smart
Speed Racer
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
HUGE year coming up for us!
For me, it’s either the Dark Knight or the return of Indy.
Oh! And Wall-E.
Oh oh! And the fourth series of the new Doctor Who.
Oh oh oh! And Iron Man.
Dagnammit, there’s just too much cool stuff coming out this year.
Andy Fanton’s last blog post..Flash Men and Likely Lords
Wow, that’s a lot of stuff…Doctor Who huh? Interesting…
Wall-E looks kind of cool too.
