Who cares usually about a DVD box set? Not many people, but there are on occasion pretty awesome box sets of TV shows or movies that are worth a tip of the hat for their ingenuity.
Like the Seinfeld: Seasons 1-3 box set that had salt and pepper shakers and a napkin dispenser from Monks all included. I got that one many, many years ago and I think the salt shaker is still alive and kicking on the table in the lunchroom at one of my company’s offices.
So with that being said, The Movie Blog posted about the Grindhouse packaging for the box set coming out soon, although there is no definitive word on when yet.
First off, the outside packing just looks awesome. Blurry red font, black, weathered looking background. Nice.
But the inside is where it gets going. The way it opens and the flaps remind me of movie posters and the old style of slaughterhouse films, which is what inspired Grindhouse.
The other side of the flaps reveals the discs, which are just sweet looking and quite familiar…
Mini-records…how slick is that?
If you enjoyed these two films, you will likely be dying to get your hands on this set. I still need to see them, hopefully soon since I think they’ve been playing on my HD PPV channels.

Ditto – missed this in the theater and would still love to see it. Great packaging – I definitely like the retro-look.
the way you described the boxset has made me want to go out and buy it. i dont even know what its about. good work.
