If you haven’t seen “Cloverfield” yet and don’t want to know anything at all about the movie then you’ll probably want to skip this article as I will be mentioning parts of the film that you might not want to know about.
And if you stayed for the end credits of “Cloverfield” you got two bonuses. One bonus was the really cool Overture music and the last was some static filled, garbled sort of transmission that lasted a couple of seconds at the very, very end of the film.
So, what did the transmission at the end of the credits say?
Unfortunately, listening to it at the end of the movie, it was impossible to understand. However, if you were to sneak a recording device into the movie and secretly record the garbled message then take it home and upload it to your computer where you digitally enhanced the static and then reverse the audio…you will clearly hear a voice saying, “It’s still alive.”
Now, I assume that most of you probably already did all that, but if not, you’re in luck because I have a copy of the audio here:
There isn’t any mistaking the voice and what it is saying. What we don’t know is what character (if it was a character from the film) said those words.It also brings up another interesting conundrum of sorts. Because if you go to the Official “Cloverfield” website you will see some photos. One of those photos is the photo below:
There was some cheesy 50′s monster B-movie, the name escapes me though, where they did a sequel where the original monster regenerated like a starfish because of radiation. Maybe they’re planning something along those lines.

Clearly the animal in the top left of the picture is a sperm whale with a giant bite out of it’s head. As for the other piece it does have the same texture/colour as the Cloverfield monster had. But let us not forget about the object that falls from the sky into the water when Rob and Beth are at the fair. Maybe the creature didn’t come alone!
how is that a sperm whale when it has tusks or whatever coming out of it!?
Everyone’s talking about what fell in the water, but I must admit…I didn’t see it. I guess I’m going to have to watch the movie again.
Hey from the last picture of those dead things on the beach. Well they are whales, the one in the left hand upper corner is a sperm whale, which can easily be discovered from its mouth which is pointing in your direction and fins on its body. The one in bottom right hand corner seems to be another whale like a baleen because of the stripy bottom jaw (the one which fills up with water) and its tail seems to be skinned.
The consensus does seem to be that the objects in the picture are whales. I do see how they could be whales but I’m certainly no expert so I’ll have to leave that to others. At any rate, it’s definitely not a clear indication that the monster is dead.

It does kind of sound like ‘help us’ after the credits but it’s so fast and full of static that I can’t be 100% sure.

i LOVE this film. there have not been many that have affected me soo much. but as much as i would want to see what happens. they should not do a sequal. untouched its a master piece. with a sequal i becomes just another movie with a crap sequal. (c’mon you know already that the sequal will be crap.)
Ryan, the back of the picture you mention has some japanese written on it. i can get it all but it seems to be a receipe, listing ingredients and how to do it, probably for the food on the picture. doesn’t seem to bring any clue relative to the monster though

Well just watched the movie…and what they are saying it was, was a scared baby….baby!!! For crying out loud man, theres a bigger one?!?!?! Geezus…. proly gonna be what the sequel is.. this movie was scary man…only used 4 air-sickness bags watching it…

yeah, i got the baby thing too, jeesis! 350 foot tall baby, nice! he also eluded to the fact that it was just beginning to develop. hmm, from a baby sea creature into an adult land creature? i wonder where its gonna go from here? if thats a baby-what the hell is it gonna eat to sustain its growth, considering it was feeding on whales as a youngster? leaves a lot to the imagination doesn’t it!
Wait. What? Where did this baby thing come from. I’ve never heard this before. You heard this at the end of the movie? On DVD?
Yeah I saw all of the deleted scenes, they didnt tell much, there are also 2 alternate endings, but they didnt tell anything different either. The baby thing came from them talking about Americas monster… and they felt good they were designing a scared baby who wanted their mother, and was screaming for it, whenever it roared it wasnt an agressive one, it just wanted away. so imagine if it was hostile, and then imagine its mom or dad… it was a scared baby doing all that…. geesh we are in trouble, if there are bigger ones and they are pissed we took down the baby, which we arent sure we did…
It doesn’t have to be backwards. The static at the end says, “Now What?!” Obviously this means the same thing: Monster is still alive (last major offensive was ineffective) – or else characters are still alive.
Does anyone know what the Russian man on the street was trying to tell Hud?
to me the voice sounds like “is it still alive” it could also be “it’s still alive” but the first word (it’s or is it) is said kind of quickly. It would be cool if its mother came because this monster was a total BAMF, so its mom must be even cooler. can’t wait.
They’re craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaab people! The lil things. And if this thing turns into something like an oldie godzilla monster movie, half of me will be pissed and the other half would be squeeling in delight. How do we know there wasn’t only one huge pray-mantis type thingamajig? What if there was more? Maybe there was a couple and the female just ate her mate and that’s a picture of him above? For all I know, it’s a huge mutant seal or a whale. SAVE THE WHALES!

the ending says “help us” and it is Rob saying so. if you watch the movie (rented) with subtitles on it tells you who is saying what. and the subtitles state it is Robs voice. this at first led me to believe that rob and beth are still alive. Also the man in the street is speaking Russian – again as stated by the subtitles, i am assuming the russian is attempting to warn them of those small critters that attack them in the tunnels.
um,have any of you ever been outside? there’s a whole world of non-electronic fun to be had, like maybe biking, swimmingm, actually speaking to someone…just a thought

I just cloverfield on Comcast, and I really liked it. I felt that I wanted to see more about certain scenes,
-like the girl who exploded…a detailed reason why, other than it being a parasite?
-Didnt it kind of look like Hud got swallowed and then spit out for a sec? Reminded me of whta it would be like to be eaten alive by a Great white shark- yikes!
-So a space sat. fell and awakens a creature…detailed why? Why was it dormant for so long?
-What was happening to the rest of the contry and world when this happened?
-What is the country like during the aftermath? Did the spider aliens parasite things go all over? How do people survive?
-It seemed like we used a stealth and many fighter jets to try and take it down. Is it me, or did this seem to not be full strength?
any thoughts? Any other ineresting comments or theories?
I think they did survive, and there will be a sequel. Maybe then things will get explained. If it were explained in this first one though, it wouldnt have felt so real.
Also, was it me, or did it seem a little fake that these friends were going to follow him to their deaths so easily for Beth? I would have like to have some history of all of them really knowing each other as little kids or something to substantiate why they cared so much. I belived he loved her though, and could get into the fact that he was so insane with grief and shock, that he had to find her since he knew he was probablygoingt o die anyway.

i loved this movie, and it is definitely going in my tops, there were a few things i did not think needed to be in the movie, first, dont get me wrong i love how it is, but why did all of the guns, rockets, stealth bombs, anything hurt the monster or give it noticeable damage at least, and i think it is veryyyyyy ironic that after the plane crashes, that the monster happens to appear RIGHT THERE!!!, i know why they did that, (to see the monster better) but to add more life likeness to the whole movie that could have not been put in there, but it would have left a very large scar on the movie so it really wouldn’t be the same without it in it. thats why i said i love the movie how it is
and to be honest i dont think there should be a sequel i agree with the person who said it is a masterpiece by itself, its true, BUT if there were to be any form of a sequel (OR PREQUEL) that it should be a book, if anything. and finally someone put that there should be a detailed view on the main characters relationships especially rob and beth;s, well it is said in the movie that rob loved beth since collage, but of course we do not know what happened in college or anything up until the movie visually. which is probly why rob didnt think twice about rescuing her, as well as a mixture of fright, paranoia, and of course the strive to protect the one you love.

The pictures are brilliant but I agree that theyre whales. Maybe these pictures (The whale one and the one with the guy in the boat surrounded by blood) are from before the monster attacks? Another of the pictures is from a scene on the extra bits on the dvd where you see an oil rig being destroyed for no reason(Implying the monster did it). So maybe its like lots of strange things happened like dead whales and oil rigs exploding before the monster decided to come on shore? I know a sequel would suck but the devil in me would love to see it! Set i London! xoxo

Alien attack, demons, mothra..so many possibilites
Personally, I thought it was a great movie. After movies though I try and get as much info on it as possible and I hate it when I can’t explain stuff, like Cloverfield (please leave links 2 whatever site(s) is useful/full of gossip about this movie…I need 2 know). Now there are some questions…
1. In the very beginning, the site area and case name show up. “US-447″ is what I think it was. Just being a 15 year old kid who loves his questions, why name first contact with an alien lifeform “US-447″? 447 meaning what? Number of related incidents? Does the goverment or foreign governments have previous knowledge of any of this? Godzilla moster (man-made)? Got to love it =)
And I forgot about the static noise at the end, but I’ll listen in again to try and decipher what they are saying. And to someone else’s comment, what if the monster wasn’t alone (hence the ‘thing’ falling from the sky)?
Another thing. If you watched the scene where Marlana explodes (I think she just pukes her guts, not explodes, but you got to wonder what made that happen), you should see the Army carrying a sedated “mini-crawler” away. Do you think studying that would/should give them any advantage on this thing? I think it should.

I like the hypothesis of parasite Monsters. Well, i renember the Soldat how looks like something did “come out” of his stomage. Then the thing that they killed the girl how got bitten.
To the picture of the Whales (if they are). Take a closer look. I´m not sure if the Cloverfield Monster bite this one. Cause look at the underjaw. It doesn´t figure.

you have reason, if you look to the “thing” have a bit, you can look a mouth and a eye of a cachalot, and a cachalot is an inmense animal, if this image if official can signifies two things:
- the monster is not dead…
- or, the mother of the monster is here!!!

i think these bloody pieces are dead sperm whales. in the upper left you can see the whales head with a big whole and beneath its mouth with its tooth. and in the lower left you can hardly see another mouth with tooth and an eye.
the big cadaver in the right seems to be a body. the thing in the middle could be a flipper or a caudal fin.
water god??i think it’s more look like Water Demon…..
anyway i think cloverfield monster can’t die because has very thick hide (many creature that lives in the very deep sea has very thick hide)

Eric, at the end of the film, when it cuts to the two people on their date at Coney Island, in the distance, you see something splash into the sea. The insinuation is that this was the monster splashing down months before.
If Abrams gets the go-ahead for a sequel, I don’t think it really matters how it “comes back”. Not much thought will be put into it, and we’ll be expected to just swallow it without question, like so much in his work. “It just does.” seems to be the watchphrase with J.J. Abrams.
rob works for a big japanese corporation that makes slusho (among other things) and the main ingrediant in slusho is some sort of nectar that they drill from the oceon floor…the corporation states that they disturbed somthing…
i got this information from a series of websites the makers of the film set up and you have to find hidden passwords among other sites to uncover the mystery….theres one more thing though…the thing that falls into onto the oceon at the end…its doesnt make sense that the corporation said they uncovered somthing in the sea bed…then somthing falls from the sky?

jj abrams confirmed that in 2011, a movie called “super 8″ will be launched… this movie could be a prequel of cloverfield!! but its just a suposition…

If you watch the director’s cut version, you’ll see that Rob has his ring on the right hand. Before that in the stairs, Lily is barefeet holding her high heels shoes. Then on the roof, she has flat shoes.
That means they are on a dream. Beth, Rob’s love, has slept with one of his Japanese schoolfriend. The goal is to give birth of an idea, that Beth trully loves Rob. But there are always problems. The monster refers to Godzilla, a japanese monster, representation of his nightmare of the japanese guy. The man who speaks to Hud in a foreign language represents the general difficulty of American people to understand other cultures.
I think people are crazy to think that the monster is real. Such monster doesn’t exist!!!
