There may not be any greater fighter for freedom in the world than John Rambo. No, there’s not much that Rambo can’t do. No, nothing can really hurt him or stop him when he puts his mind to something. After all, he is RAMBO.
I guess it was inevitable that Sylvester Stallone would make “Rambo” (official site) after the success of “Rocky Balboa” last year. I actually had high hopes for the film when I first heard about it. I thought that it might be cool to bring back the character and do something innovative yet classic. I mean, Rambo is one of the best of the 80s heroes. Who wouldn’t want to see him come back to battle some more nameless bad guys in a country we don’t care about for reasons we don’t understand. It’s Rambo!
Then they started showing the previews. They should have taken a clue from the ads for “The Dark Knight” and just slapped “Why So Cheesy?” right on the poster. Instead, they try to make us think this Rambo is somehow a serious film about important killing…or something. I really haven’t figured out what the preview is trying to accomplish. It all seems so surreal.I’m sorry Stallone, but you’ve got a stinker on your hands. I can tell just by watching the trailer. It looks…well…stupid… I mean, it looks more stupid than we expected it would look. Nothing cutting edge about this Rambo. Just lock and load…shoot and blow up. Same old, same old. It’s just not going to cut it with today’s audiences. Sorry.

But then again, I’ve been wrong before. Watching the preview again, I’m thinking it could work. Just turn off that music…and tell Rambo to stop talking.
And then there’s the incredibly cool “Death Chart” done up for us by John Mueller at the L.A. Times, a man who knows his math…and his killin’. This is too cool.

So Mueller has already seen the film? I think the big glaring weakness on that Death Chart is the fat ZERO across the board in sex scenes
Okay, I agree with you…I think this movie is going to suck, and one of the big reasons is because Stallone looks like a geriatric who has no business wielding machine guns and blowing stuff up.
He just looks goofy running around obviously WAY TOO OLD and killing people…

I dunno if i agree with the above chart. In Rambo 2, he was kissing the asian girl he promised to take to America with hi…POW..ok, so now shes not going with him, but was that counted as a sex scene? Its also important to know that with the above chart that 67.2% of all statistics are made up on the spot…
ummm if i recall correctly he did have his shirt off and she was undressing… well ok she took off her jade necklace at anyrate and gave it to Rambo whe..POW… ohhh, that’ll leave a mark…

Yeah… I’ll be honest. I’m not sure that I’m really getting excited to see this movie. In fact, I probably won’t except for maybe on DVD.
First Blood was awesome though! And I’m pretty sure Stallone was already in a porno, so no sex scenes is okay with me when he’s involved.
I do want to see Cloverfield when I can escape my house for a few hours. I’m also loving the Sarah Connor Chronicles. When is ‘T4′ coming out?
