Variety is reporting that Quaid has signed on to play the Joe team leader, General Hawk. His casting almost comes as a surprise as the director has been signing mostly unknown and “B” rated actors for the other roles.
We have also learned that Arnold Vosloo, who played Imhotep in Sommer’s Mummy films, will be taking on the role of Zartan, a mercenary who works with Destro and Cobra.
The two will be joining Channing Tatum (Duke), Sienna Miller (The Baroness), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), Rachel Nichols (Scarlett), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty), Said Taghmaoui (Breaker), Marlon Wayans (Ripcord), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Rex) and Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow) who have already been cast.
The actors portraying Destro, Shipwreck, and Cover Girl should be announced sometime within the next week.
“G.I. Joe” is set to be released in August 2009.

Darth Maul is snake eyes……so apprently he ‘pulled himself together’ for this movie…see, cause he was cut in half previou….ah nevermind.
