I Could Have Grown A Baby
In many ways it’s hard to believe that “Lost” has been in rerun hell (or completely off the air) for almost the length of time it takes a human being to go from conception to birth…but it’s true. Now, because of the writer’s strike, we will only see half of the 16 episodes the writers had planned for us; half of the vision for this season. If last season’s finale was any indication, though, we should still be in for quite a ride.
I’m A Huge Fan
I haven’t written much about “Lost” but I’m a huge fan. I’m not a crazy (like crazy crazy) about “Lost” fan, though. I don’t go to all the message boards and read the theories and play back my DVR at slow-mo to try to look for those numbers. I like hearing about it when all of you do, but I don’t do it myself. Although, in retrospect, I probably would if I had more time.
For the most part, I don’t want to know what’s going to happen before it happens. “Lost” is one of the few shows on TV where spoilers can actually ruin it for you. I can’t imagine how much less I would have enjoyed last year’s season finale had I known ahead of time what was going to happen (and I won’t say what did happen here just in case).
I watched the rerun last night of that two-part episode and was reminded again of how good the show really was, is, and could be. I say it like that because we’re never sure which “Lost” we’re going to get at any one time. It’s had some inconsistent moments in the past. I still love it, though, even when what the writers try to do doesn’t always work out. I think this time, however, they’ve got a winning strategy and I can’t wait to see it play out in the long run.
The End Is Approaching
For those who might not know, there’s supposed to be 48 episodes left of the series. It’s written in stone. Well, the ending date is written in stone. With the writer’s strike cutting short this season by 8 episodes no one is certain when or if those episodes will still be made. I’m hoping they will because basic math tells me that 8 out of 48 is a big percentage and I’m not ready to say goodbye to that many episodes just yet.
Do Some Research
If you want to read up on “Lost” or find some good links you might head over to A Mike Life because Mike is totally stoked about “Lost” finally coming back and has wished us all a Happy Lost: Season 4 premiere day!
And if you really want to do some catching up you’re going to want to check out the little mini-episodes ABC put up this summer called Lost: Missing Pieces. Although, if you haven’t seen them yet I’d suggest you head over to The Principia Adamaca because Adam has posted all 13 Lost: Missing Pieces videos along with some cool and useful commentary.
The Beginning Of The End
In the meantime, tonight’s episode is titled “The Beginning of the End,” which says a lot. It looks like the producers are getting us ready for the end… Luckily, there’s still a long way to go before we finally get there…wherever it is.
Can’t wait Jason, I’m stoked!
Look for a huge recap later tonight, as long as I haven’t died of a heat attack because the show ROCKED MY WORLD or something

Man, you are stoked! I barely got the article posted before you commented…or is that what you want me to believe…? Okay, I’ve been thinking about “Lost” too much…
I will have to watched last night finale just to get into it.
8 episodes less. That’s a lot but I will take it. They could make 2 x 16 seasons next year unless they hope the writers get back soon.

Well, assuming they were going to have 16 episodes start next January for Season 5, I don’t see why they couldn’t do the other 8 from this season in the fall of this year…assuming the strike ends in this century!
Hi Jason,
I am a big fan of Lost. I do not watch much TV so I buy the seasons in complete DVD sets and watch at my own pace. I find it hard to believe that a show like “Lost” could find itself in reruns for so long. I think it says quite a bit about TV as a whole.
I am glad they are back now, but I’ll wait for the DVD pack.
A show like this has a limited time span, and you don’t want to dilute a great show by running the thing too long.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the link! I am definitely one of those people who read the theories and pause the DVR… and yes, you could say I have too much time on my hands.

I think your way of watching the shows is actually better…but I enjoy the shows too much to wait for DVD!
Adam
Well, I certainly can’t knock what you’re doing since I found it helpful. Heck, I encourage you to keep it up!
