GREAT post. I, too, am up way too late trying to analyze everything. I was flipping out about the white shoes! I couldn’t believe that.

So many questions. So we are believing that there are people who tell the Oceanic 6 to keep this big secret. But who does the ‘visitor’ we saw in the hospital represent? Whatever group he’s a part of is suspicious of the big secret and he asked Hurley if ‘they’ were still alive. And why rescue anybody at all if the 6 have to keep this big secret? Why does Hurley later apologize to Jack about how he should have joined his group on the island after the groups split, but in the same conversation tells Jack that they should go back? Does Locke end up doing something? Too much…

So many questions…as Lost loves to give us :)

Maybe the people left on the island, including Locke, etc., ASKED the 6 to keep it a secret? But they do so reluctantly?

That doesn’t make sense either…but dang, there ARE so many questions…

I am just curious about HOW they finally get off, what happens between now and then. Ugh…only 7 episodes left :(

  4. Jason A Clark

In an interview Matthew Fox clearly says that time-travel will play a part this season. I’m thinking that maybe Charlie really was at the hospital with Hurley…

As for Jacob being Christian…yeah, doesn’t make sense but some of the evidence on the internet is really making it look that way.

Well, that is interesting…but from what time does Charlie come from?

I can’t wait until the mysteries of this shows are over at the end…I just want to know what is going on! Ahh!

  6. Cap'n Schwartz

    <—– watched Smallville instead :p

  7. Mike

Cap’n, I did too…and it was okay, but all this drama between Lana and Clark is so ANNOYING!

I’d write a recap of that too, but I can’t do more than one show a night :)

  8. Jason A Clark

Don’t rush it Mike! It’s like a fine wine or a date with a beautiful woman…you just have to enjoy it for as long as you can and savor every moment for as long as it lasts…

  9. Jina

I think they take the Oceanic 6 off the island and tell them to say everyone else died, so that no one keeps looking for the plane wreckage and inevitably the island. So then… people can continue to do research (or whatever they use the island for).

  10. Adrian

Good theory Jina. So my question is, ‘who’ exactly wants the world to stop looking for the island, and ‘who’ is actively looking for the island? Theories anybody?

  11. Mike

I still like the theory Jina and I came up with last night…that Dharma is the ones trying to find the Island since Ben cut off communications, and they’ve always tried to keep it hidden.

  12. Jason A Clark

Why would they only take 6 people off and willingly leave the rest, knowing the rest are still alive? Why would the 6 go along with them coercing them not to tell? Why the 6 that ended up getting off? Doesn’t add up.

    Comments are acting screwy again…

  14. Mike

I think YOU are acting screwy :)

Maybe the 6 who got off REALLY wanted to get home. We know that Jack REALLY wants to get off the Island, we also know that Jin and Sun want to have their baby off the Island…

Maybe the others wanted to stay, but the 6 deep inside knew something was wrong, and now they realize they never should have left.

  15. Jason A Clark

I think they all REALLY want to get home (except maybe Locke). There has to be something magical or mystical or otherworldly that pulls them into wanting to go back…

Did anyone watch Eli Stone after? It had the Oceanic Air commercial which was interspersed with ‘other’ stuff. Curious to hear what you all thought of it.

I think maybe the “rescuers” told them everyone would be rescued. They put the first 6 on the helicopter, and then told them “we’re not going back, here’s what you’re going to do or we’ll kill you and them.” or something like that. So that’s why they have to reluctantly keep the secret. I wonder about the rescuers being Dharma b/c aren’t the food drops still happening? So obviously they know where to drop them and where the island is. Maybe the rescuers are from Penny’s dad? Or you know, we have NO idea how the hostiles/others got there either. Maybe it’s related to them? Who knows but I love it!!

I also think that the “rescuers” are part of the DI.

The season opener was great minus a small issue in regards to Naomi. Seriously – that was just too far-fetched to believe, although when the camera panned back and she was not there, I turned to those in the room and said, “Well, they are on an island were Locke was able to walk. Maybe it healed her, stranger things have happened.” Regardless, I do think that while the island does have some very interesting supernatural properties, for some reason the Naomi story seemed forced and even a stretch beyond what they have done before.

I will say this though, it does seem to raise the question of resurrection of people on the island. For instance:
    1. Jack’s father was supposedly in the coffin, but when Jack found the coffin it was empty (and now he might be Jacob – unless Jacob “took” the body in order to manifest itself).
    2. How many deaths did Mikail go through before blowing up the grenade? (After all, Desmond did shot him with a harpoon gun in the chest and that appeared to be fairly fatal…)
    3. Naomi…

So there appears to be a precedent set for it, and at least a case can probably be made.

  19. Mike

@ Scott – Didn’t watch Eli, was it good?

@ Nicky – I like the idea that they were forced to keep the secret in that way. As far as the drops, we don’t really know if they are still happening or not I guess?

@ Ape – Not to mention Mikail was killed with the electric security grid right?

  20. The Trousered Ape

Yes – that is the second of third death of him that we have seen I believe.

  21. Scott

Eli was pretty good. The Oceanic ad was really interesting too.

Also, can anyone explain why Locke is no longer shot?

Love the post and the show.

  23. Mike

Thanks Wesley, check back in next season, we’ll be doing more of them :)

  24. Cap'n Schwartz

Good summary on this post. Somethings make more sense now that I can read about them!! The questions is after they are back on the island *spoiler coming on next episode..

…Why is Sayid working for Ben and hunting people down who wear the bracelets. Clearly Ben is the one of the Oceanic 6 if hes off island right? So who are the others, 1) Jack 2) Kate 3) Sayid 4) Hurley 5) Ben whos the 6th and how is Ben one of the 6th
