As you may or may not have heard by now, James Purefoy (A Knights Tale, Resident Evil, HBO’s Rome) was cast as Solomon Kane a couple of months ago in a film that is anticipated to be the first in a trilogy.

“Solomon Kane” is being adapted from the pulp novels of Robert E. Howard who is the author who created “Conan the Barbarian.” The Solomon Kane pulp novels were first serialized in the 1920s and 1930s. The story is described as an epic tale of a 16th century soldier who is tormented by his past evil deeds which he learns have damned him. He is determined to live peaceably but soon finds himself dragged into a battle of redemption with sinister power that is threatening the kingdom.Purefoy is a good lead for the cast which got even better today when Max von Sydow and Pete Postlethwaite were added to the cast that also includes Rachel Hurd-Wood, Alice Krige and Mackenzie Crook.
A relatively unknown director named Michael J. Bassett is directing from his own script. Shooting is due to begin in Prague this month.

Of course you know I posted about this like a month or two ago (haha) but I really think this could be good.
It’s like we’re talking about on my blog about uniqueness…this is finally a story that I don’t think has been done as a movie before.
