I must say that I was one of the people who was pretty hyped to see the “Star Trek” (official site) trailer attached to “Cloverfield” this weekend. I have been anticipating it almost as much as “Cloverfield” itself. Unfortunately, I’m also one of the people who was disappointed with what I saw.
I understand that the movie has not been filming that long and that there are numerous reasons why you wouldn’t want to show fans too much about the story. I get that. What I don’t get is not showing us anything at all. Just a little something to hold us over for a while. I mean, I know this was a teaser and was only supposed to “tease” but this preview was hyped for a long time…to not show us anything…was disappointing.
I liked what I saw (what little there was to see). I have no doubt that this will be the most beautifully filmed Star Trek film of all. I liked Nimoy’s short voiceover which seemed full of longing and desperation at the same time. Of course, hearing that made me long to see Nimoy again…and we have no idea how much of the film he will appear in.
At any rate, I have the preview here (in HD) for those who have yet to see it. I encourage you to watch it and form your own opinions. Please, let me know what you think.

AWESOME! Though I’m still dissapointed its a prequel, I’m excited for something/anything from the ST universe. Thanks for posting the HD trailer here!!!
I’ve been a trek fan for the last 25 years, and stuck with them right up to now. Even though there have been some bombs, and there’s been quite a bit of repetition in the series, it’s still enjoyable. On top of that, I’ve read almost every Trek novel ever published, so there’s a lot of stories out there fit to be filmed.
It does make one wonder, though … has *too* much happened to some of these people? With so much happening to just one small group of people, it makes you wonder just how boring life is for the rest of the ships in the fleet.
Either way, I’m looking forward to watching this movie. Hopefully they’ll have an English showing here in Japan sometime early in 2009. Until then, I’ll have to re-read some books to get my trek fill
ジェイソン (Jason)’s last blog post..Umm … Am I In The Wrong Country?
Well, I have to agree that it sometimes seems that we’ve concentrated on the same group of people too much as far as Star Trek goes. In many ways I would have preferred if they had just created a new story arc with new characters and everything for this film. I think that might have been preferable.
Having said that, I’ll be one of the first in line to see the movie when it opens. What can I say? I’m a fan.
I have to say, seeing the NCC1701 move out of the darkness and hearing that music again… the blood runs hot once again

I’m with you Star Trekker. I’m with you.
