Obviously the strike isn’t over yet officially, but it sure seems by the way people are talking, that it’s all but official.
The big question I had this week was the fate of our shows that are stuck mid-season without a new episode to their name. Well the Ausiello Report has some interesting news on this, especially in regards to ABC shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives.
According to Ausiello, production on Grey’s will resume early in March with 4-5 episodes airing in April or May. This also goes for Ugly Betty, Housewives and Brothers and Sisters. So while it’s still only early in February, the great news is that seasons haven’t been completely lost.
Now, the news changes though for new shows. Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money, etc., will likely not return until next fall. Production on those will begin sometime during the summer.
Ausiello expects that pattern to hold at all the other networks as well: Established shows return in the spring, new shows in the fall.
Although he admits series like Lost, 24 and Heroes are kind of up in the air since they are heavily serialized. For example, Lost is supposed to have 8 more episodes this season, not just 4-5.
This gives me a lot of hope for Scrubs guys. While we may not get every remaining episode we were supposed to, I’m sure the writers of that wonderful comedy will be able to squeeze an awesome finale into 4-5 showings.
At this point I almost wish they’d just wait and bring everything back in the fall. I can’t even remember what I was watching any more. They’re going to bring back another four or five episodes and make me try to remember what’s going on then, just when I’ve figured it out, they’ll be gone again for months and I’ll forget everything all over again.

Jason, perhaps that’s more of an indictment on your memory than the shows trying to come back with so few episodes
The one I’ll miss, because I don’t think it’s coming back, is Journeyman. Ratings be damned!
So true RT….
If only I cared about any other show on ABC other than Lost…
Touche, Mike. Touche.
Scrubs receiving a final and proper farewell would be fantastic if they do it, and I hope that they do.
I agree, they should wait for fall. By the time anything starts coming out, they’ll want to take the summer off. I’ve got CRS syndrome too.

New episodes of Smallville are airing now, so there’s some comfort for me.
As for Scrubs, I’m just deadset against them ending it at all. It deserves another year or two …

Smallville…egh, still waiting, but it’s alright. I may be writing something about that soon.
