“The Happening” Officially Endorsed Trailer Released

The Happening Header
Back on February 5th we posted what we thought was the teaser trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s new film The Happening (M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Happeningâ€Â? New Teaser Trailer and Poster). As it turned out, the trailer was leaked without permission and the studio got all freaked out because there were scenes of mass suicide and such that aren’t, apparently, acceptable for American audiences. The end result was a legal rampage by the studio resulting in most of the copies of the trailer disappearing. I think our link went down twice.Well, the internet is a wonderfully big place so that other trailer still lives on in various places (like here). Fox has, however, been kind enough to supply everyone with an officially endorsed trailer that is considerably different from the one we saw just ten days ago.

M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Happening” Official Trailer

The first trailer was pretty short on story, but this one sets up the whole thing quite nicely. I actually wouldn’t be surprised to find out that Fox planned the whole early release of the first trailer and then killing it quickly thing just to tease everyone. I mean, why would you create such a completely different trailer if you never had any intentions of releasing it? Even if you only plan to release it internationally it’s bound to show up on the internet and in front of American audiences. Just doesn’t make any sense. At any rate, I still think the movie looks pretty cool. I think the trailer does a great job of setting the whole thing up. The trailer makes it seems as though we’re under some sort of chemical attack from another country or something and people are just dying left and right. I guess Marky Mark and his family decide to get while the gettin’s good and hightail it out of Dodge (I don’t know where that came from). I just hope the payoff is actually worthy of the build-up for this one.

This movie is starting to look pretty sweet. June seems so far away, yet not that far at all. Hmmm….

At least it’s not as far away as Star Trek…
