I wont lie, I only watched like 36 minutes of the Knight Rider movie that was on NBC Sunday night, so who the heck knows how it all turned out.
But truthfully, that was about all I could handle.
The opening scene was actually decent, with these men breaking into an old scientist/inventor’s house, killing him and then watching a black Mustang wake up and zoom out of the garage. I had hope for a brief second.
Then the commercial break was over and the movie went into full-throttle suckage.
It was shown at 7pm on a Sunday night, everyone knows that those of who were kids for the original series LOVED a talking car with Turbo Boost, so there is no doubt that kids today might be intrigued.
So naturally the movie opens with a guy in bed with two other girls, and then a female police officer leaving for work after a one-night stand with another woman.
Trying too hard to be edgy? Why?
From there I had a hard time taking it seriously. The acting was so bad it felt like one of those American Idol contestant commercials for the Ford Focus.
Not to mention Val Kilmer’s last minute work as the voice of KITT left a lot to be desired. I never heard Will Arnett, but I have to believe he was the better choice.
Also, as the Cap’n pointed out to me earlier today, that Mustang couldn’t outrace a Ford Minivan/SUV whatever it was?
I had no hopes of it getting better, and my DVR had a choice between the rest of the NBA All-Star Game and the 4th new episode of Breaking Bad, so Knight Rider got turbo-boosted right out of this house.
And from what I heard, it didn’t improve much.
The most amazing thing is that my NBC friend told me it got an 8.4/13 share last night in the Phoenix market and killed FOX.
If you really want to recatch it again you can go online @nbc.com and watch it. there you can also enter to win a KITT car..which everyone should do…wait a minute..noone should do it, so it increases my chances at winning…
I was slightly intrigued, since I grew up on the first one, but wow, this one was BAD! Not only was the acting bad, but the writing was horrendous. I know we’ve been in the middle of a writers strike, but c’mon.
I was also really bothered by the opening you mentioned with Mike and his threesome followed by the lesbian one niter, not because they offended me, but because they were clearly targeting the family audience and i was watching with my son. There’s just no place for that crap on family TV. Save until later and I’m fine with it.
I can’t imagine this show lasting long, esp since it makes Bionic Woman look like Lost.

You still beat me 
Well, I endured the entire Knight Rider movie – well, after the fact, with the help of DVR.
The acting was bad. The writing was bad. The continual random shots of the car as if the movie was just a commercial for the mustang was bad. The story was bad. And yet I watched the entire thing solely based upon my love for the original tv series.
Even the scene where Hasselhoff tells his son that he was his dad at his mom’s funeral was bad. It seemed awkward. You didn’t miss much except for the stupid series of Ford commercials where KITT got jealous Mike Tracer drove a different car. Can you say Psycho-A.I.-Gay-Car?
