I’m not really sure what to make of The Signal (official site) Supposedly, it’s a horror film told in three parts from three different perspectives. I’ll post the entire plot below, but basically it’s about a mysterious transmission that invades every cell phone, radio, TV, etc., and turns people into killers.
I’m not really sure who the stars are because the IMDB only shows one named person in the first fifteen characters; all the rest have descriptions such as Random Body, Deranged People, Screaming Man, or Dead People Party. I guess that’s good enough for some people. I’m not sure I’m in to it.
It’s New Year’s Eve in the city of Terminus and chaos is this year’s resolution. All forms of communication have been jammed by an enigmatic transmission that preys on fear and desire driving everyone in the city to murder and madness. In a place once marked by conformity but now sent into complete anarchy, the rebellious Ben must save the woman he loves from the bedlam in the streets as well as her crazed sadistic husband. But the only way he can tell who to trust or who has given in to violence is by uncovering the true nature of The Signal.
Video – The Signal – HD Red Band Trailer
The trailer for The Signal actually looks pretty decent (although I have no idea why it’s a Red Band Trailer). Of course, it’s nothing we haven’t already had a taste of in Stephen King’s “Cell” or The Ring or even from the preview for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening (especially the “unofficial” trailer) so I’m not sure it’s going to find it’s audience.
The Signal is set to open in limited release on February 22, 2008.
Jason is a one-time film major from the University of Texas. Life’s journey took him out of film school and into business, but the love of film and television never left his blood.
One response to ““The Signal” Poster and HD Red Band Trailer”
Didn’t seem very Red Band to me either, but I liked it!
Another reminder of that Stephen King book “Cell”
