Ever since Jim Halpert did Desert Island on the Fire Guy episode of The Office, it’s been a fun style of questioning to think about and use from time to time.
If you don’t know what Desert Island means, it’s basically a question revolving around a deserted island and something you’d bring with you.
So for this edition of the Friday Question: Desert Island, we’re asking:
What two movies would you bring with you on a desert island?
This is a tough answer for me, because I think I’d say Lord of the Rings, but I am not technically sure you’d consider them ONE movie, so I’m not going to cheat.
Swingers is the first movie, because it’s my favorite, but the second would be A Few Good Men. Don’t ask me why, but whenever I see that movie playing on a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon, I have to flip it on and watch. There is something about the way the film unfolds, with new discoveries and great writing that always appeals to me, no matter how many times I’ve seen it.
I even worked at a movie theater when A Few Good Men was first released, and we’d stand in the back reciting the final Jack Nicholson/Tom Cruise courtroom theatrics. Ah, the good ol’ days.
What about you?
And just because I reminded myself of Fire Guy…
“Joe McCarthy, Richard Nixon, Studebaker, television, North Korea, South Korea, Marilyn Monroe, Ryan started the fire! “
I guess my two movies I’d bring would be any HD-DVD movie because without a player on the deserted island they would be uselss kinda like they already are today =)
But if there was a player with power etc, I’d bring:
Cast Away – to get my self ready for a life on the island
McGuyver, The Return – made for TV movie, in that I wouldnt have to have a life on the island and could learn how to get off it, using just a palma granite and my shoe laces, because I would HAVE to get back to A MO’s Life blog!!! Whatever it takes man!!
McGuyver??? LOL!
The Cap’n beat me to the humorous answer, so I’ll just answer straight.
Legally Blond and Ghost. But just the scene with the pottery wheel.

Like any real man, one would have to the Godfather (note, since I have the set and they are all in one case, I think all 3 should count as 1), the other would be a toss up between Shawshank Redemption and Caddyshack.

1. LOTR – because it is one movie.
2. PulpFictionKillBill1&2ResevoirDogsPrincessBrideTheUsualSuspects
Seven Samurai
Lawrence of Arabia
Tough question and my answer could change from minute to minute, but as of right now -
Goodfellas
The Big Lebowski
By the way Mike, I agree with you about A Few Good Men – can’t help but watch it if its on TV.

R.A….I am not sure exactly why you’d pick the Ghost pottery scene out of all the ones out there…but alright
This is an easy question. While there are a ton of movies I love, there are two favorites that rise above the rest.
1. Three Amigos – I laugh hard every time, in fact I watched it last night.
2. Braveheart – greatest movie ever made. period.
Braveheart is indeed awesome…FREEEEDOM!
But on a deserted island, not sure I could watch that chicks neck getting sliced over and over…
Castaway and Lord of the Flies.
What a nerd
