I read somewhere that the Sarah Connor Chronicles takes place in an alternate universe where T3 never happened. I’m guessing that T4 will indeed acknowledge T3, so I’m thinking they’re going the “alternate universe” route, in that the Sarah Connor Chronicles takes place right alongside T4 in a parallel world unrelated to each other. Which is a cop out! Kind of like how they couldn’t just wait until after Smallville to do a Superman movie. We really just need one continuity to follow. I wish they’d just let one thing happen at a time to avoid confusion but it’s all about money I suppose! :)

    Maybe T4 will forget T3, it sucked…

  3. Adam

Haha, yeah, it wasn’t my favorite, but I did still enjoy it. The first 2 are just so hard to top.

Mo you gotta stop hopin series and movies end before their time =P Smallville is still going (poorly I might add) even though Superman Returns came out, so if Terminator series is sucessful, it could keep going. Remember Kyle Reese comes from a future he was sent back to prevent happening. T4 will just tell that story of what is happening, but the TV series can still try to prevent it from happening….

Good point Cap’n. I don’t care really though. Somewhere in my own little head, I’ll make them all work together somehow.

Who needs an alternate universe when you have… hey, is that a peanut?

  6. Mike

There is a difference between Superman and The Terminator though.

We KNOW how Superman turns out…we know Smallville will likely lead us into the Superman universe we all know and love. The stuff along the way is cool because we see HOW it happened.

But with Sarah Connor, we’re seeing John’s evolution I guess, but the entire mythology or plot of the show is to try and end Skynet, which we all know wont and doesn’t happen.

So is the journey there just as interesting even though we know it really doesn’t matter what they do?

  7. Cap'n Schwartz

…my arguement is we dont know it happens, its a possibility as most time travel goes. The TV series is trying to prevent it… T4 will show what happens if they dont…

  8. Cap'n Schwartz

    @ Jeff LOLOL… =)

  9. Mike

I want them ALL to line up! I don’t like alternate crap! :)

  10. Cap'n Schwartz

yeah but you are a fan… and we all know fans cant have what they want….

I just want to say that Smallville is MUCH better than Superman Returns was.

An alternate timeline is just as likely as an alternate universe, one which nicely ignores T3. In fact, the Sara Connor chronicles already pretty much ignore T3, don’t they? I can’t remember for sure, but wasn’t John just ‘hangin out’ in T3 with no worries at the beginning? Then it must be alternate timeline or universe (or alternate writers!)
The Superman movie was okay, I guess. It would be nice if he got to fight something other than kryptonite for a change. That’s where Smallville has the movies beat. The plot might be thin, but there are other superpowered non Kryptonians to interact with. The comics take place in a world full of amazing characters, just like Smallville.

I think Christian Bale is a good choice for John Connor, a character who grew up before our very eyes. If only for CB I think this will be a good one. I’m also waiting for his Batman.

I like the first Terminator the best. A love story of sort, sending your father from the future to meet your mother and eventually create you. How can you top that love plot?:)

Did John know he was his father in the future though?

I liked T2 the best though, I just felt it had a great tale too and really got into the heart of what was going on. Plus, I thought Linda Hamilton rocked.

    @ MichaelB… not this season it isnt….

  16. Mike

Smallville sucks pretty bad right now, but…Superman Returns…egh, I really didn’t get that movie much.

  17. Cap'n Schwartz

Superman Returns was a good movie, in fact Mo, I’m surprised you didnt like it as it was a chick flick more than a hero action movie. =) It still holds one of the coolest scenes in a movie where he saves the plane, it wasnt what many were hoping for, it instead was more of a Lois lane perspective movie. it did make $200 million, but with Justice League on the horizon (and a few other items), a sequel for it may be on hold and in jepoardy…

  18. Cap'n Schwartz

thats the trick of time travel, but you would think since John was young and him mom told him who the father is that in the future he would know and then send Kyle back…

  19. Mike

It was an okay movie, I just left it feeling…blah or whatever. I loved the plane thing, I thought that was cool, but I just was sort of bored I guess. I dunno why I didn’t like it more, it had all the elements of a good movie for me:

    superheroes…a love story…Kate Bosworth…

no no no cap’n didnt just say the superman movie was goo id he? superman returns sucked ass apart from kevin spacey who played a slightly different but good lex luther, and mike offcourse john connor knows kyle reese is his father in the future because his mum tells him his name he just never meets him till episode 9 of the chronicles when he meets him at about 5years old near that. and i love smallville apart from the good storylines never being continued or finished that does annoy me i like it when the add more to the plot than have about 3 episodes followed by one good story adding to an ongoing plot

christian bale – good batman, good actor but good john connor??? maybe i suppose we will see, and first terminator without arnie will it be too wierd or just the reminder that the enoskeletons look like him anyway lol

  21. Mike

Christian Bale would make a GREAT John Connor I think…

  22. Cap'n Schwartz

Not only did the Capn say Superman Returns RAWKED.. but he must also remind you of the following rules…
    1) The Capn is never wrong..
    2) If the Capn is wrong, see rule #1

  23. Mike

    3) The Capn is wrong sometimes

What’s interesting to me is that you ask the question about what the point is continuing the tv series when we know they are unsuccessful in stopping “JD” from happening, then you go on to answer your own question…. What on earth was the point of asking a question you knew part of the answer to??
