That didn’t take too long.
The internet series quarterlife, which premiered online back in November and was given television life on NBC’s primetime schedule, lasted only one episode before dismal ratings forced it to be moved to Bravo.
The show only had a 3.36 million viewers tuned in, which is one of the worst debuts for a show in 17 years for NBC. Even having The Biggest Loser as a lead-in couldn’t help.
Speculation is that the show had a big following online so with that established fan-base, it didn’t get all the potential views it normally would have. Plus it was up against Jericho, which is a big favorite of TV watchers in the same target audience as quarterlife.
We checked out the pilot and it was okay. I like the characters a lot, the idea of Dylan who blogs about her life, and just the examination of the problems those in their mid-20s struggle with.
But the situations were pretty contrived and some of the scenes were over-the-top. It could be attributed to the fact that it’s a pilot episode and historically, they tend to suck compared to future plotlines.
That mainly has to do with the fact that the writers have to set the show up for the long haul, which means they have to lay out an entire cast and character situations, plus future expectations, all in a short amount of time.
I may watch the next few episodes to see how it goes.
In any case, if you want to continue watching it, the series moves to Bravo and hopefully will be shown in HD on their high-definition channel.
I haven’t seen this and wasn’t all that interested in seeing it based on the previews. I think a lot of people, myself included, are growing tired of the Gen Yners (whiners). Get a job and life already.
