This should be interesting. I’ve hardly heard any of this stuff so I don’t know if the Mike and Jason similarities continue or come to a screeching halt. The stuff I do know from this list I like. I’ll give the rest of it a listen when I can and see what I think.

“Never put me on your team if the game is music trivia, that much is certain.” … (***cough or any team relative to trivia, i.e. Star Wars, cough***)

To clarify Cap’n…anything from the NEW Star Wars films…no one needs to know stuff from those pieces of junk ;)

I like your picks Mike! Except the Plain White Tees aren’t really my thing but I love the Silversun Pickups!

Oooh, glad you like them too Nicky, they are an awesome little band. Such a great sound.

Silversun Pickups is pretty good. I’ve downloaded some of their music via my Rhapsody subscription.

This morning on my way to work I hit the “L”‘s on my player and listened to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Lyle Lovett.

You might also like OneRepublic’s “Dreaming Out Loud” CD. Their “Too Late to Apologise” is great, but there are a number of other very good tracks too.

I agree on the newly-released Foo Fighters song. It has their great, classic “Foo” sound without trying too hard – which those guys sometimes do.

Also – and this is -WAY- out of character for me – I’m gonna recommend Mary J. Blige’s “Growing Pains.” It’s much more R&B than hip-hop and there was several really nice tracks. “Come to Me (Peace)” has a real Aretha Franklin-ish feel with the vocals – Blige shines when she belts out. Also well worth checking out is “Fade Away” & “Stay Down.” There are a couple of throw-away crappy hip-hop tunes but overall, this is an impressive album.

My wife loves Mary J. Blige, and I totally love her voice, but a lot of it is a bit mellow for me…and a smidge too R&B for my tastes…but there is no doubt she’s an amazing singer.
