The third week of American Idol 2008, Season 7 live performances is now complete. On Thursday night, yet another group of four people, two men and two women, were cut from show, this time from the top 16 contestants. I must say I was quite pleased with the results this week. If you read the recaps of the shows and saw what we had to say about all the performances then you know that we were pretty close with our picks. The four we thought were the most likely to get voted off were:
- Luke Menard
- Chikezie Eze
- Kady Malloy
- Asia’h Epperson
I’ve certainly made it no secret that I can’t stand Danny Noriega and would have picked him to go out every single week if I thought he would actually get voted out. I really thought the gay vote would be strong enough to keep him in. As it turned out, however, it wasn’t. The four contestants who were kicked off of American Idol 2008, Season 7 this week were:
- Luke Menard
- Danny Noriega
- Kady Malloy
- Asia’h Epperson
So, even though one of my picks for the men was incorrect, I’m actually very happy about it. I would much rather have seen Danny Noriega get kicked out than Chikezie who I think has a strong and talented voice.
Luke and Kady both seemed like nice people and I have nothing against them at all. It’s always a little sad to see people like that have their dreams crushed in front of millions and millions of people because the truth is, they do have talent. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to shine in the few weeks they had on American Idol.
The true travesty, once again, is that Amanda Overmyer gets to stay while Asia’h Epperson has to leave. Amanda lacks the talent and seemingly the ambition to carry on in this competition while Asia’h has fought hard to stay even if she hasn’t been perfect. But, that’s the way it works.

So glad to see Danny gone…but man the girls sure loved him.

I called the guys perfectly – the girls I said was a toss up and I think it was. However, the ones that did leave I am pretty happy about. I do not think Amanda will make the top 10, that is my next prediction. Also, I think the top 10 will be 4 girls and all the current guys.

Anyway, I think the Ape might be right about the top 10. Amanda should be an easy call, but I’m not so sure about the other one.
Based on last night…err…night before last, ‘cos we’re slow here…it doesn’t seem like Amanda Overmyer wants to be there anymore. She had nothing but a big batch of “Whatever” when the judges were falling over themselves saying how wonderful she was. It was bizarre.

@Jason -Eddie Murphy said it best ‘girls love gay men, because gay men are the best friends to have, they want nothing from and you can shop, etc, etc (insert Eddie Murphy doing gay voice here).
As for Danny, his biggest problem wasn’t that he was gay, it was that he was immature. He mistakenly thought being gay and sassy would win over America, he guessed wrong. He was annoying and not all that talented and thankfully, now he’s gone.
