2 New "Speed Racer" Trailers

Warner Bros has released two new international movie trailers for The Wachowski Brothers’ big screen adaptation of Speed Racer (official site).

When we saw the first trailers for this film I actually got excited about it. I thought the live action cartoon concept was actually pretty neat. I’m not sure these new trailers, however, add to my excitement or take away. Some of the scenes look a lot more like a video game than a movie. It could just be the small screen or the quick scenes we’re seeing. I’m not sure. Check them out and let me know what you think.

Speed Racer is set to hit theaters on May 9, 2008.

    For some reason, this flick just does not excite me. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t a fan of the cartoon when I was a kid or the fact that there are so many huge movies coming out this summer.

    I agree Jason – kind of looks like a video game.

    The cartoon was def one of my favorites growing up. It appears they’ve done a great job capturing the same spirit in the film. I for one AM excited about this one.

    It looks like an “action for action’s sake” kind of movie. My 11 year old son, who liked Transformers, will probably like it but it will be shear torture for me. It will be interesting to see how many commercial placements targeted at the 12 to 25 male demographic there are in the film though.

    Yeah, some of the scenes looked like they might set off seizures in certain people with the way the colors and lights were…

    Pretty big fan of the cartoon and when this was first announced I was excited about it. But after seeing these trailers I am not so sure anymore. Maybe I am just getting old…ugh.
