We’ve already posted some spoilers for the April 17th episode of Smallville, entitled Descent, which appears to be the direction we find Lex Luthor headed. If you don’t want to know more about that episode, I’d skip this blog post.
Funny thing for me, I really hate finding out spoilers for Lost and Battlestar Galactica, but I seem to not care a lick about knowing what happens on Smallville.
It’s not like the evil nemesis of the future Superman isn’t already on a downward spiral, but apparently he’s visiting some seriously dark places in Decent. What we know about this episode is that someone is dying, and the supposed hints we get is that this is a person never having been presumed dead by THE AUDIENCE before.
My prediction has been that Lionel Luthor is the one who dies, and Lex is the guy who kills him. And I think executive producer Brian Peterson’s comments pretty much confirm that for me:
“Descent” deals with Luthor’s decline into “his own personal hell,” Peterson said. “There is a major turn that happens in his life that drives him into pure darkness. … It’s Lex’s real descent into the villain he becomes. I think that is what fans have been waiting for. It’s what I’ve been waiting for,” Peterson added with a laugh.
To me, killing his father fits the bill of Peterson’s comments. I can’t imagine him turning more evil from anything other than ending Lionel’s life.
And to add further to this, last night’s episode, Veritas, really made it even MORE evident that Lionel will perish so that Lex can find the secrets of the Traveler in the safety deposit box located in Zurich, Germany.
It’s going to be a great episode.
(on a side note, how annoying was it that we ALMOST got Clark trying to fly, but he apparently is a big chicken and wont do it – ugh)
I gave up on this show a long time ago, but I may have to tune in to see Lex lose it.

**GASP** {quickly coves his ears to avoid Steven saying he gave up on the show}..
Well if you saw Smallville last night (I mean, who didnt see it) and stayed tuned for the previews for Decent, you see Lex toss ole Lionel out of a LuthorCorp window…. bye bye Dad….
Man, they make it into this big deal, then show it to you on a preview????
LOL!
Glad I was right anyways
Smallville is a show that’s kind of been dragged out way too long. They’ve said on a number of occasions that Lex “will be pushed over to the dark side,” this is something like the 3rd time they’ve said it. I still watch out of habit, but the show itself has gotten almost cringe-worthy at points, which is sad.
My opinion, of course.

There is a huge difference between Decent and Descent.
:BIM:
I wonder if he’ll ever really fly on the show.
Here’s something from wikipedia: Ground rules for story development were established at the outset. Part of the marketing pitch, “no flights, no tights” dictated that Clark would not wear the Superman costume, nor would he fly.
I wish he’d fly anyways.
