The possible series finale of Jericho aired last night and while it gave us an ending of sorts, it also opened the door to an entire future where we witness a second American civil war.
I wrote yesterday that I hoped the writers, who penned a finale that would give fans some closure, would still leave some threads open in case it was picked up by a cable network. They seem to have done that.
While the main plot of the nuclear bombs seems to now be at an end, there is huge potential in the possibility of a civil war. That in of itself could be an interesting season of television, although something like that would be a nationwide event, so how would the little town of Jericho fit into things?
Overall, I liked the finale. Beck finally sees the truth and decides to go against orders. It was good to see. I also just really love the characters on this show and the burying of Bonnie was a nice moment.
Seeing the mayor return to town was also pretty cool, and the “Don’t tread on me” flag was a nice touch. He’s struggled through a lot, having to fill the previous mayor’s shoes and keep the people of Jericho safe.
I also, for some reason, loved that Texas was the state to help make things right. It seemed appropriate that they’d lead the charge to bring America back and stop the Jennings & Rall takeover.
What did you think of it?
The one thing I seem to be able to do with Jericho is ignore some of the hard-to-believe scenes and moments throughout. I find it tough to fathom that a cell phone could still use Sprint and GPS after a nuclear war. The town of Cheyenne looks just fine and people are walking around like it’s a sunny day and nothing bad has happened only a few months ago.
Is it realistic? I dunno I guess, it’s hard to predict how things would be after an event like this.
Still, I hope it finds a new home on cable somewhere, because I like the Jake character played by Skeet Ulrich, and would love to see where else the show could go.

Texas Rocks! That’s how we do things in Texas.
Skeet’s next film is called Armored with MAtt Dillon and Lawrence Fishburne. I’m a huge Fishburne and Ulrich fan, so I’m hoping it’s an entertaining flick. Going to miss Skeet as Jake — his most compelling role thus far. I preferred the show Miracles he was in, better all-round writing and substance to the show, but Jericho was a fun ride too.
Who says Skeet’s next project will have an End-of-the-world feel to it too? Three-peat.
I did like the ending and the fact that it open new possible doors if it is picked up by a another station.

Carol Barbee has confirmed that CBS Paramount is trying to sell Jericho to a different network. (CBS Televison Network showed/canceled Jericho, but CBS Paramount is the company that produces Jericho.)
There are already two interested networks – Sci Fi and The CW.
There is a list of things the fans are being asked to do:

I only want the show back if Skeet and Lennie come back to it.
