I am just baffled at this and while I know we’ve written about it a few times now, it’s hard to fathom that a deal like this was struck by two rival networks.
Our beloved Scrubs, which was supposed to end this year, just finished shooting episode 712, which is the 12th episode for this seventh season. Beginning next week, April 10th, we’ll get 6 new Scrubs episodes to end the season.
That episode will be the last to ever air on NBC.
However, the Scrubs production team has already started shooting episode 713/800 as of last Tuesday. That numbering means it was the 13th episode to be filmed this season, but wont air until season eight.
That’s right…SEASON EIGHT. Production will continue on the set of Scrubs up until episode 816, meaning we’ll get 16 new episodes this coming fall.
All on ABC.
Supposedly the rumors are that the costs have been trimmed a bit to keep the show going, so some lower cast members could be cut.
But it’s still awesome news, and thanks to Kristin at E! Online for getting us the scoop.
This was supposed to be the last season, I wonder if next season will end it or if it keeps going.

Wow! This is so weird. I wonder how the change of network will affect the writers and the cast, especially if some of the supporting actors have to be cut – it might change the mojo of the show. I guess, as a fan, I’m happy to hear we’re getting more shows…

I was actually kind of ready to see how it ended, so hopefully they have good stuff in the tank to keep it funny for awhile.
But this network move is pretty unprecedented I would think…
Can anyone say Taxi? Shows switching newtworks never seem to be as good….
Hopefully, it will live up to the same quality of shows they have been producing. Tracy is going to be excited the show is coming back for another season, even if it means they are switching networks.

Yeah, I don’t think anything good can come from switching teams late in a stellar career. Does Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, or O.J. Simpson ring any bells?

I really like this show, but I hate to see a good show run down to nothing and loose it’s charm, instead of having a good solid ending. On a brighter note, if they do another season, reguardless of which network, then I hope the best for the cast and everyone, because it is a good show.
