Okay, I know I’ve said that I’d be waiting until Lord of the Rings arrives on Blu-Ray before I actually bend over and purchase a player, but my self-ultimatum may have just been altered.
A day or two ago, there were reports out of Australia that a new, special edition version of the television series, Firefly, was in the works. Jewel Staite, who plays Kaylee on the show, mentioned it during an interview, and the news spread quickly.
Well the guys at TVShowsOnDVD investigated and not only found out it’s true, but also that it’s going to be coming out on Blu-Ray!
Granted, this is still in the production phase, so a release date isn’t close to being known yet, but it’s exciting news. The only way to see this show in HD has been on UniversalHD which only a few satellite providers carry.
Staite mentioned that she had been called in to provide “new commentary” for this special edition, so not only will it be Blu, but it’s also going to have all-new special features. Awesome.
It could be a race now to Mike’s Blu-Ray player purchase…whichever comes out first.
As we previously outlined and discussed, you may as well break down and go get a PS3 already chief… its inevitable!!
