Well, I was waiting to see what, if anything, Amazon.com would do for those of us morons who purchased HD-DVD players prior to the total death of the technology.
Other stores, like Best Buy and Circuit City, all offered people full refunds, credits, etc., towards Blu-Ray players, or even money back.
Word comes down today that Amazon.com isn’t going to be going as far as those companies did, but they WILL be offering a $50 credit to anyone who purchased a HD-DVD player from them prior to February 23rd, 2008.
Now, it’s not like it’s as awesome as cash or like a huge discount off a Blu-Ray player, but at least I get to keep my HD-DVD player (the upconversion is awesome) and still get $50 credit.
My next goal when I get this credit, is to probably use it towards a Blu-Ray player once they drop a bit.
This credit supposedly is being sent out via email, which I’ve not received yet, but EngadgetHD has a copy of one, which you can see below.

Thats nice they and other companies dont let customers foot the bill (entirely) and at least offer something, thats pretty good of them right?
Yeah, getting $50 out of this is okay, I just hope Google doesn’t catch that letter from Amazon as spam
