We’re down to the final matchups for Round 1 of Ultimate Bad Ass here on PopCritics.com. We’ve gotten through the Jack Bauer bracket, Jason Bourne and then Ripley. Now it’s time for the bracket led by the guy who is very hard to make dead: John McClane.
The names in today’s battles are pretty prolific, especially Mr. T who somehow beat the snot out of Jules from Pulp Fiction in our Wildcard Playoff round.
But we also have the greatest spy in MI6 history, the baddest archaeologist ever and the Godfather himself.

#1 John McClane versus #8 Michael Westen
McClane is of course Bruce Willis from Die Hard, while Westen is from Burn Notice on USA which I need to see.

Up there with Jackie Chan as one of the best martial arts experts in the world, pitted against Ash from the Evil Dead movies who on occasion wears a chainsaw as an arm.

007, James Bond, who would probably take you out while sipping a martini, against the brute, bling-bling-ed force of Mr. T.

Interesting 4/5 match-up.
Yeah…and I voted for Ash because I just love Bruce Campbell and Army of Darkness.

All I can say is that if Mr T beats Bond, I’m calling this whole thing fixed.
The 4/5 is tough. MC is a def badass, but Indy is much tougher.

John McClane, Die Hard..Maybe the first movie I ever walked out of going “Whoa…wtf just happened” and wlaked right back in and watched it again. I don’t see Michael Westin having the kind of days Jon has, or surviving it…John wins here.
Ash is cool, well maybe he’s hot if he’s Ash (right?), and he may be great agianst slow moving evil-undead types,but I doubt Mr. One-liner is going to take down arguably the greatest martial artist of all time. Go put in, Enter The Dragon, and watch Mr. Lee’s first match against Tanaka. When they pair up and he WHAPS his opponent with lightening speed with no camera speed up, tell me he’s losing… Bruce prevails here.
Bond vs Mr. T.. really do I even need to explain this one?
Indy vs Corleone, tough match, I see however Indy whipping the gangster right out of Mr. Order giver. Jones lives on to make a sequel…
and thats how the Capn sees it.
Wow. The vagaries of seeding rise up and take down one of my dark horses! I thought Michael Westen had a chance to go pretty deep. At least into the second round. But he had no hope against McClane.

I hadn’t really ever thought of Indiana Jones as an “action hero” since he’s far more about smarts & luck than sheer kick-ass badness…
Indy is 100% Action Hero, however he’s not really high up there on the Bad Ass scale. Bad ass is more an unstoppable force that kicks lots of ass. They are similar concepts, but not the same.
I have to agree with Robert. Indy is definitely 100% action hero – maybe not bad ass, but definitely an action hero. Still takes out Michael Corleone with brains and luck.
Wow, maybe Nicky is right?! Perhaps if we knew Mr. T had thes epowers the voting would go differently for him…
