Yet again I ran out of time to watch Scrubs, because I had to get the hour-long Smallville in, and then you really can’t watch three half-hour shows in time for Lost at 9pm…and when it’s on that late, I don’t mind watching it live.
But I did of course get to watch a stellar Office and 30 Rock, the latter of which made me laugh a heck of a lot more.
On The Office, I love how Ryan has basically transfered the annoyance people had on him as a temp, right to him as their boss at corporate. He’s such a little rat it seems, right down to that ugly beard.
The entire meltdown of the new Dunder-Mifflin Infinity 2.0 website was a riot. Social networks, predators (Creed) and downtime. So great to see Ryan’s big idea totally caving in around him.
The pressure appears to be so much that he’s doing drugs, which was find out as Michael and Dwight go “clubbing” on a Friday night where Ryan frequents. Some awesome moments there, especially Dwight and the little “hobbit” and Dwight turning town good-looking basketball chicks with a roll of his eyes.
“I’m not gonna call her.”
Fraking hilarious!
Meanwhile, Jim has a bright idea for everyone to get their extra work done Friday night so that they can have Saturday morning off.
You ever notice how Jim is really awesome, right up until he takes charge of something? Then he’s a miserable failure.
The good idea turns into a bust as they get locked in by the security guards who didn’t get notified by Jim that they were working late. Great stuff there, some awesome Stanley moments in this one.
Loved the “Who thinks Angela and Andy are a better couple?” and all the hands go up. Stop it, you’re killing me!
The best, most creepy moment of the night goes to Toby of course, that poor, poor soul who has never gotten over his silent love for Pam.
Do you think he’s really moving to Costa Rica?
30 Rock was a flippin’ riot. I cannot even remember all the good lines, but so much awesome happened in this episode that it’s almost too much to talk about.
Jack is trying to get the head honcho job at NBC, and has been fighting Will Arnett over it. Let me just say, Arnett has been flat-out awesome as a gay guy pretending not to be gay so he can marry the bosses’ daughter and get the job.
Two great stories stood out in this episode. One was Liz Lemon “going corporate”, while Tracy Jordan decides to leave his kids a legacy by making a “porn video game.”
The scenes with Liz all “business drunk” and rubbing elbows with the board members and Tracy in his frenzied state of “genius” writing out how to make the porn video game work were fantastic.
You really have to pay attention while you watch 30 Rock, because every line is funny for the most part. The colorful and unique ways the show is written is top-notch.
“Suck it monkeys!” – that’s gold.
Here’s the clip of my favorite part from 30 Rock last night.
So let’s hear your favorite moments from last night!
How about Toby leaping that fence like a gazelle?
The office had this ‘crawfordness’ to it….
What a great episode of the office! Loved Meredith getting tagged in the head with the football! Scary to think Dwight has some game! Loved that he poured out the drink.
Liz got “business sick” all over her new suit!
Will Arnett talking about Project Runway winner Christian, when Rami was clearly the better draper!
Instant classics!
And she was still wearing the suit!
Dwight massaging Michael’s head with peanut butter was funny.
Dwight: If I’m dead… you guys have been dead for weeks.
Dr. Spaceman, 30 Rrock, calling for help: “Is it 411 or 911? Hello? New York? Diabetes repair, I guess.”
Ryan’s beard is ugly? Do you own a mirror?
The Office was great as usual, although the humor was a little more subtle this week.
‘Don’t use the good peanut butter!’

The Office – was a riot this week – oh man that was sooooo funny.
Michael had that peanut butter all over his head – rotfl…

I liked the Office, but I think this might have been the wrong episode of 30 Rock for it to be my first ever. I thought Tina Fey was great, but Tracy Morgan is just an awful, awful actor. I just couldn’t get past that. I’ve never seen a guy with that many great lines just be a disaster when actually saying them.
Well, Morgan wasn’t a bad actor, he was acting that way on purpose. He’s supposed to be an idiot. All his lines are hard for him to say because he’s stupid.
He cracks me UP big time…
I totally get what Michael is saying because I used to hate Tracy Morgan’s acting too. Once you get into his character, though, you’ll buy in to it totally and instead of being annoying it’s actually really funny.
I don’t know how the office gets better and better every week but it does! Why would anyone want to know what it’s like to sleep with Meredith?! Classic.
If I think back to the first couple of episodes I watched of 30 Rock, I thought it was funny, but the characters (except Liz Lemmon) were so over the top! But their crazy personalities do grow on you.
I loved the line that Tracy had been up for six hours straight!
As for the Office, every week is solid. I try to make sure I don’t go in to each episode expecting too much, because I think I’ve started to set the bar too high to attain for them at times.
I agree with Jina on the expectations of the office. However, their consistency week in and week out make it difficult not to have high expectations.
As for Tracy Morgan, I am still 50/50 on his character. Their are times where I find his character annoying. None the less, the rest of the show is awesome!
Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s written great–Tina Fey is a terrific writer and Tracy Morgan has some great lines. I just can’t get past his delivery–I’m not sure if he’s supposed to be acting like he can’t act or what, but everything I’ve seen him do is the same. I just think he isn’t a skilled actor, but I can understand how he can grow on people.
I was having a problem with the way Tracy delivered his lines until I saw him in an interview. That’s the way he normally talks! I guess too many Long Island Ice Teas make you sound like that.
Well, maybe you guys are right, and he can’t act, but I’ve also not seen him in much else, and coupled with the writing, he’s damn funny on here.
