Somehow I never got to see Band of Brothers, the HBO classic miniseries that has a 9.6 out of 10 rating on IMDB by over 46,000 readers.
Directed by Tom Hanks, co-produced by himself and Steven Spielberg, the 10-part miniseries won countless awards from Emmys to Golden Globes, and is considered to be among the best miniseries of all-time.
Good news for Blu-Ray fans out there, Band of Brothers is set to hit shelves sometime later this year. Up until now, the only way to see the series in high definition was to import now discontinued HD-DVDs from Japan.
I need to see this series and perhaps the Blu-Ray release will be a good time to get a player.
On a side note, according to Wikipedia, the creators of Brothers, including Hanks and Spielberg, are currently developing The Pacific, which focuses on the Pacific Theatre of Operations.
Yes, it was good. Now, you have a reason to buy a blu-ray player. If lucky, LOTR(Extended) will be available before that one.
I bet The Pacific will be available in 2009. It’s been a while since I heard of it.

Since I am a big fan of their work on Saving Private Ryan, I definitely need to add Band of Brothers to my list of shows/movies to watch.
Band of Brothers is certainly worth viewing and the book is quite good too.
One thing that I found interesting was that the movie cast looks a lot like the actual people.
Speaking of the Pacific theater, I’d like to see a movie based on the book With the Old Breed by EB Sledge. They did a History Channel bio show on it but a mini-series or movie treatment would be great, if it was done right.
