Warner Bros. has released the official movie trailer for the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars which is also attached to prints of Speed Racer that hit theaters this weekend. I have to admit that the preview looks far better than the crappy poster. I’m still not really jazzed about the animation style but there’s something about the music that always gets me excited and there does look to be a lot of action so I guess that’s something.
The official plot synopsis reads:
On the front lines of an intergalactic struggle between good and evil, fans young and old will join such favorite characters as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala, along with brand-new heroes like Anakin’s padawan learner, Ahsoka. Sinister villains — led by Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous — are poised to rule the galaxy. Stakes are high, and the fate of the Star Wars universe rests in the hands of the daring Jedi Knights. Their exploits lead to the action-packed battles and astonishing new revelations that fill Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars will hit theaters on August 15th 2008. The movie leads in to this fall’s premiere of a weekly computer-animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series on Cartoon Network.
@ Jason – totally agree. This looks much better than their lame duck poster. However, still do not see myself going to see this in the theaters. maybe as a rental though.
Definitely looks better than the poster. I’m sure we’ll check this out on DVD. I like that they can go back and fill in some of the gaps.

The animation sucked. But the clone trooper battles were cool.
