Tom Cruise is in talks to join the new new Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, The Bone Collector) action thriller, 28th Amendment.
In the Warner Bros. film, Cruise would play U.S. president Ben Cahill who discovers that a secret organization (run by Denzel Washington) has controlled the U.S. government since WWII. And, like any good secret committee that secretly runs the government, this hidden power structure assassinates potential troublemakers to serve its own needs. The President makes the discovery about what’s going on and finds himself in the firing line.
The screenplay was written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
Hey, it was just a matter of time before Cruise became President. I actually think this one sounds pretty good. Plus, it’s got Denzel in it.
I thought this would be like “Air Force One” except the President would kidnap his wife and daughter and hold them hostage.

I like that it has Denzel, but the fact that Cruise may be on board is a turnoff, esp as the president.

Cruise is too obviously crazy to ever get elected.
That said, as long as he’s doing his lines and not his own thoughts, he seems to do fine. Even so, he’s not old enough to be credible as a President.
Is he the only actor who will play as the president? No other candidate?
@Robert – Cruise will be 46 in July. JFK was only 43 when he was elected in 1960…
JFK was certainly a statistical outlier, however I stand by my comment. Bill Pullman was 43 when he played President in ID4…I didn’t buy that, either.
Yeha, but ID4 was good and Pullman pumped me up!
