On July 11th, CBS will premiere a summer show called Flashpoint, which has me somewhat excited for two little reasons:
Amy Jo Johnson and Enrico Colantoni.
You may not exactly know those names too well, so I’ll ‘splain. Johnson played Julie on the original J.J. Abrams series Felicity back in the day, although she only lasted a few seasons. I always loved her character on the show and was bummed when she left for awhile.
Colantoni was on Veronica Mars most recently, but might be known mostly for his role on Just Shoot Me.
I love both of these actors and they’re starring in Flashpoint, a CBS series from Canada about a big city elite police force:
“Flashpoint” is an emotional journey into the tough, risk-filled lives of a group of cops in the SRU (inspired by Toronto’s Emergency Task Force). It’s a unique unit that rescues hostages, busts gangs, defuses bombs, climbs the sides of buildings and talks down suicidal teens. Members of a highly-skilled tactical team, they’re also trained in negotiating, profiling and getting inside the suspect’s head to diffuse the situation to try and save lives.
It sounds pretty exciting and could be a fun series over the summer. And the fact that Johnson and Colantoni will be in it makes it that much sweeter.
It’s filmed on location in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and is a production of Canadian CTV.

No way, really? It led to one of the best jokes that first season of Felicity. There was a costume party and Amy Jo dressed as the Pink Ranger.

Great series so far. 2nd episode was even better than the first. Not at all what I expected. I was pleasantly surprised by how it deviated from the action movie formulas. You really see these hostage situations as the human tragedies that they are rather than the normal black and white, “good thing that the bad guy got shot in the end” type story.
My husband & I loved watching ‘Flashpoint’. We miss it. When is CBS bringing that program back on air?
I am trying desperately to find the music of the current episodes of Flashpoint. I cannot find it anywhere so far. I think there have been three or four episodes this season and the music at the end of the shows have been great. Does anyone know who performed them?
I just wish they will make a third season
