There is an official blog for the production of Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, and the first post was made last Friday by producer McG.
Photography has started on the film, with a scene bring shot at Griffith Observatory with Anton Yelchin and Sam Worthington, who play Kyle Reese and Marcus Wright respectively. McG has already seen a cut of that initial shot and was pretty happy.
He has some great stuff to say about how much he know the films are important to fans and his drive to make them great:
Like you guys, I’ve been a long-time fan of the series and I understand your passion for the Terminator movies — and it’s my full intention to deliver a film that lives up to the previous three installments. I’ve spent time with James Cameron, spoken to Arnold Schwarzenegger, gone over the story with Jonah Nolan, and enlisted Stan Winston. Everything we’re shooting is designed to be tactile and real, you’ll be seeing a whole set of inspired designs you’ve never seen before, and best of all you’ll finally get to see some of the post-judgment day future that was only hinted at in the previous movies. John Connor will be pushed to the brink. And for me, Christian Bale embodies Connor’s strength and tenacity perfectly.
Below is an image he posted that is preliminary concept art for a post-judgment day Los Angeles. Pretty cool. I have to say, I’m slowly starting to get psyched for these Terminator sequels.

With The Dark Knight not even out yet, did Bale take his cowl to the set with him?

I’m holding out a some hope for this based on the acting talent behind it, but there’s little about the director’s credentials that’s very confidence-inspiring for me, including the fact that he doesn’t even bother using his whole name – Joseph McGinty Nichol. (That always bothers me when punk-ass rappers do it, too.)
“Charlie’s Angels?” C’mon, that was stale tripe on a styrofoam plate! The sequel? Didn’t even bother with it…
Now granted, I liked, “We Are Marshall,” but that had much more to do with the caliber of the actors and what they brought to the screen than the actual directing – certain actors could make even a laundry detergent ad compelling for me.

(that being said, it was very good for a few years, but tailed off like most series end up doing)
@Mike -there are some things that don’t need to be seen in order to know they’re no good; ie I don’t need to see inside my daughters diaper in order to know what I find won’t be good.
Seriously, I know some people liked the OC, that said producing said show doesn’t get me excited about a picking up the mantle for a scifi movie franchise. I’m just sayin’

Yeah, I can see that…this is a movie, that was a TV show called The O.C., so it doesn’t speak much to it.
But you have to know, while you’ll never give it a chance, for the kind of show it was, it was well written, hilarious and gathered a huge following.
There are plenty of shows I wont watch, but I don’t necessarily think they remind me of the inside of a dirty diaper
Great cast with a questionable director. Hope it turns out well.
