I skipped the What to Rent article last week because the titles available were just so sad that I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Case in point: The wife and I hit Blockbuster this weekend to find a few movies, and the newer stuff out there was pretty sad. We left with Mr. Brooks and The Brave One. Still haven’t watched either.
This week isn’t exactly better, but it’s got a few interesting new movies that could be worth your time.
Rambo (2008)
The latest sequel, which I still haven’t seen yet, arrives with a smorgasbord of offerings. There is the Blu-Ray edition, the Widescreen edition, the Rambo: Complete Collector’s Set (All four films), Rambo 1-3 on Blu-Ray and Rambo: Special Edition with Digital Copy.
A lot of hubbub for a movie that didn’t receive the greatest reviews. I sort of want to see it just because.
Grace is Gone
A film starring the wonderful John Cusack in which he plays the father of two girls who have lost their mother in the war over in Iraq. It received so-so reviews, but almost anything with Cusack in it is worth it to me.
The Three Stooges Collection, Vol. 2: 1937-1939
If you like the Three Stooges, I can’t imagine you wouldn’t like this 415 minute collection of their stuff from 1937 to 1939. Nyuk nyuk nyuk!
Blu-Ray Releases:
- Dragon Ball Z – Dead Zone/World’s Strongest (FUNimation)
- Dragon Tiger Gate (Tai Seng)
- Rambo (Lionsgate)
- Rambo (Box Set) (Lionsgate)
- Rambo III (Lionsgate)
- Rambo: First Blood Part II (Lionsgate)
- Strauss: Die Fledermaus (Opus Arte)
Yeha I’d like to see this latest installment of rambo just to see it… and then like you, most anything John Cusack is always good…
I am sure you have seen these but if not they are relatively new. Eastern Promises, A History of Violence, Gone Baby Gone. Old but good My Left Foot, Dark City, check out The Wire for me. Funny but if you don’t like F bombs is Curb your Enthusiasm, start with season one. And listen to side two of Led Zeppelin IV.

Seen Violence, Gone Baby Gone…Dark City.
I am sure I’d love Curb your Enthusiasm, but haven’t rented it yet
I had Eastern Promises in my DVR list for awhile, but never got to it…not sure why.
Eastern Promises is better than a History of Violence, intersting extras regarding the tatoos if you rent the DVD.
