I’m a big Cook fan in spite of the fact that his funky hairdo does nothing to disguise his bean-shaped noggin. I like his stage presence and vocal style. His performances feel genuine (whereas Archie seems rote & plasticy). Cook can actually play an instrument – and well. All that said, his choice of the Collective Soul song was a big mistake. Awesome song, but too unique to avoid comparisons and Cook’s version paled.

Sadly, Cook will loose to Archie because of the prepubescent girl speed dialers.

I’m pretty stinking chapped at the judges for their neverending, gushing praise of Archie. His vocals are pretty, but kinda flat and really doesn’t have that much range. His “oh, garsh, you really like me?” shtick after each performance is enough to make ya wanna claw out your eyes.

First off kudos to both David’s, they sang well regardless of my personal bias.

Second, was there ever any real doubt that Archie would win this? He’s clearly been the judges favorite all along. What’s most telling is that Simon had been slanting towards David C for the last two weeks and then bam, he’s all about Archie again, go figure.

Third, those at AI (producers, judges, Clive Davis) clearly want a young pop star winner. They’ve done all they can to ensure it, but the reality is David C will be better off without the AI crown in that he’ll be under less pressure and ultimately have more creative freedom. Look for Daughtry like success for him in the next year. As for Archie? Well, I predict he’ll do better than Hicks or Studdard, but won’t come close to Underwood or Clarkson.

Finally, rumor has it that Archies first single will be titled ‘The Phone Book’ in tribute to Randy, his biggest fan. lol

I think compared to winning it all it probably does. I'm not sure of the specifics of their contracts but I know that the top 10 are "owned" in one way or another, it just varies by degree. I do not believe that Cook, if he does not win, will need to record with Clive or 19 Entertainment. He might have more options available to him in terms of Record Company and Producer, although I imagine Clive will want to "keep it in the family" in some respects.
