A while back I posted the movie poster for Beverly Hills Chihuahua and asked if Beverly Hills Chihuahua would be the dumbest movie of the year. Lots of our regular readers weighed in and most agreed that it sounded like Beverly Hills Chihuahua could definitely be in the running for dumbest movie of the year.
But something really odd has happened since I posted that article. We’ve been getting hits on that article – a lot of them. Apparently, there’s something about chihuahuas that appeals to people. So much so that they’ve been searching the internet looking for more information on this movie.
Well, I decided to watch the teaser trailer for the movie to see what it’s all about. The teaser doesn’t really tell much about the movie other than it’s about chihuahuas. There’s a lot of singing and dancing (some synchronized). It’s a little odd, but I guess I can see why some people might be interested in seeing the movie. I guess.
“Beverly Hills Chihuahua” Movie Teaser Trailer
What do you think? Funny? Stupid?
The official plot for Beverly Hills Chihuahua says that a pampered Chihuahua named Chloe (voice of Drew Barrymore) finds herself accidentally lost in the mean streets of Mexico without a day spa or Rodeo Drive boutique anywhere in sight.
Now alone for the first time in her spoiled life, she must rely on some unexpected new friends — including a street-hardened German Shepherd named Delgado (voice of Andy Garcia) and an amorous pup named Papi (voice of George Lopez) — to lend her a paw and help her to find her inner strength on their incredible journey back home. Also starring the voice talents of Salma Hayek, Edward James Olmos, Piper Perabo, and Cheech Marin.
I don’t know if the movie will be any good or not, but I can almost guarantee from what I’m seeing that this movie is going to make more money than Speed Racer. Crazy.
Beverly Hills Chihuahua opens in theaters on September 26, 2008.

Chigli…
You know, I love Chihuahuas. I have three of them, but a Chihuahua movie? I guess it could work, but I find it the trailers I have seen are like some crazy bollywood Chihuahuas on caffeine…… it is surreal.

Yeah, it is kind of surreal. But, like I said, the movie is actually getting a lot of attention. It’s looking like it might be a pretty big hit. I guess we’ll see.
If they really thought it would be a hit though… don’t you think they would release it before the end of September? I don’t know… I’m still skeptical.
Well, it’s not going to have much competition. Might be a smart move for them to release it in a dead part of the year.
